    From nstperfume.com:

Hermès will launch L’Ambre des Merveilles in September.

L’Ambre des Merveilles was developed by Hermès house perfumer Jean-Claude Ellena; the notes include amber, labdanum, patchouli and vanilla.

A friend who is a sa for Kenneth Green, they do Hermes, Annick Goutal and Serge Lutens. Anyway she has mentioned this one to me a few weeks back. She says its a bit like Ambre Sultan being herbal but sweeter.

A friend of mine says she loves the fragrance that Hermes makes in a round bottle that is oranged colored. What would that be? She couldn't remember the name and I would like to make a gift of it for her. Thank you...

She was probably talking about the original Eau de merveilles. And there are some flankers which are quite different. So be careful...

I will most definitely try this one! Eau Claire des Merveilles has been a staple this summer for me. All of the Merveilles are very different, as DN said.

Excited to smell this. I hope it's not sweeter than the original.

BUMP ! ... Anybody sniff this yet ??? ... Am most curious to hear more about it. - I'm a bit of an 'amber' freak, so imagine I'll be wanting me some anywayz. - Still, would like to hear what direction Hermes has taken this amber ...

I have a sample, but I've only tried it on a card thus far. Smells nice from what I remember.

I picked up a bottle of this at Peter Jones in London the other week. Was my third purchase in as many weeks (I am recently back in love with wearing scents, what can I say!?!?). I simply love this, the moment I put it on I feel enveloped in a cocoon of vanilla and amber. Its warm and full of body (can cologne have body?) but not over projecting (or so I am told), seems to last quite well. Men and women have commented on it, and I have a lady friend at work who I gave a gift bottle to, and she tells me some friends of her's really liked it on her. Seems to me to be a perfect Fall scent.

As s a side note, the other two fragrances I have purchased are Creed Aventus (which I also really like) and YSL La Nuit de L'homme (which I don't like nearly as much as the other two - but given the price that's not a surprise).

I bought a bottle of this over the weekend. It has more warmth and depth than the original, imo. It's also a little bit sweeter, although it isn't an overly sweet vanillic amber. It retains many of the qualities of the original. I find it a little more wearable. Although I greatly admire the original, it has a sharpness that bothers me after some time, especially if I sniff it too closely. This one smooths it out.

Does this mean that 'L'Ambre' still retains quite a large similarity to the original 'Eau', (as in, can one tell that they are related frags), or are they rather completely different ??

A lovely warm cocoon-comfy scent. Definitely similar to Eau des Merveilles but the amber note dominates rather quickly and it lack the sharpness of the original indeed. I am not too familiar with amber scents so I don't how it compares with others. Sadly, more expensive than the original Eau des merveilles or its flankers

Any more thoughts on this? I'm wearing L’Ambre des Merveilles in the office today (just applied my sample 30 mins. ago) and loving it so far. Its vanilla-amber opening is a little sweet, but not too much to give me headache.

IMO I find them more similar than different.

I bought a 50ml bottle of this and it quickly became a favorite of mine for work. Whenever I wear this, I never, ever fail to get compliments. Oddly enough, I am told it smells "fresh" & "clean". I layer this over the Eau des Merveilles body cream, which is stunning all by itself but when layered with this new amber, it's AMAZING!

Heavy ambers do not appeal to me but this clear, sparking "golden" amber is so wearable. I would wear this year round & have fun layering it.

I'm almost out of my little bottle & will most definitely be purchasing a large one.
