Dirty English. Oh heck yeah I'd recommend it if you enjoy boozy/spicy. It's $20 at Ross. If you see it, snag it!

Two recent blind buys (no way to sample) were Lomani's Solara (hednic apparently mentions this one a lot) and Meharees by L`Erbolario. The Lomani was $20 and the Meharees was $50, and I find both very good, and yeah, would definitely recommend them (especially at Solara's price point). I sample first when it's convenient, but sometimes you gotta take the plunge.

As a side note mrpaco, didn't I meet you and do a swap with you on Youtube a while back? Good to see you here!

Blind bought Nautica Voyage and then deciphered that I don't care for aquatics. Burberry Weekend was a complete misfire on a blind buy. Didn't like it at all. Tried to blind buy Midnight in Paris but the online retailer screwed it up so I never received it and still have yet to smell it.

Generally I would have to agree with alfarom and discourage buying blind.

    That's it.

I bought Polo Blue after trying it. Impressed by the freshness I guess. After a few wears, it started slipping down the scale. OTOH I just got Encre Noire blind and I'm loving it more and more with each wearing. Austere, yet fresh at the same time. I can't say it would work for others tho.

Salvador Dali ph I got blind. First time I wore it was at night in a freezing cold garden bar. Each time I went inside I could smell all the aquatics on people. And it felt good to be wearing something so out there in comparison to that. Most reviewers say they would struggle to pull it off. Me, I love to mix the slightly trendy with the downright weird. Non-competitive and non-threatening. In the social mix but not of it. I probably got no business recommending much to anybody.

I ordered Pure Malt on the strength of all the rave reviews I kept seeing on youtube. Can't exactly say I was disappointed, But its not really me, either. I actually think there is a very nice fragrance in there under all that sugar. I'm sure I'll find enough occasions to wear it to finish the bottle one day. But now I have enough frags to be going on with, I can't see too many more blind buys in my near future.

Generally I try to sample first before buying, BUT, there were few times that I couldn't find samples in stores to try or the price for ordering sample online was close to a small/medium bottle, so I start to 'document the case' pretty well reading everything about and asking other kind basenoters that have it.
Until now, I had only 2/10 failure rate . My best blind buys:

Davidoff Zino ...one of my signature fragrances
Dirty English ... leathery, boozy, macho
    Victor & Rolf Antidote ...wonderful.period.
    Lancome Miracle ... elegant
Pal Zileri Sartoriale ... close to Gucci Envy
    Versace L'Homme ... clasic.
Escada Magnetism ... my guilty pleasure in cold weather
    etc.
"I love fragrances because they provide a sheer endless variety: there is a scent for every occasion, mood or feeling. Standing before my collection in the morning matching a perfume to my needs is one of the most enjoyable things in my day"...I don't want to miss that...

Current Top 15 Summer: | Tom Ford Grey Vetiver | Shiseido Basala |
Dior Eau Sauvage Extreme | Chanel Bleu | Guerlain Homme Intense | Armani Emporio Lui | Cartier Pasha | Guerlain Homme L'Eau Boisee | D&G Light Blue PH | Givenchy PH Blue Label | C.Herrera 212 Men | T.Mugler Ice*Men | Bvlgari Aqva PH | Kiton Black | Bvlgari PH Soir |

    Versace Dreamer
    Bulgari Pour Homme
Midnight in Paris (best of the bunch)
    Live Jazz

I would recommend each as a blind purchase.
    Spring/Summer Rotation:

    Versace Pour Homme
    Kenzo Pour Homme (vintage)
Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme (vintage)
    D& G Masculine
    Christian Dior Dune
    Guerlain Homme (EDT)
    Bond No9 Riverside Drive

If smelling good was a crime, I'd be serving a lifetime sentence....

    Creed SMW
    Creed Himalaya
    Creed Royal Delight

Love them all. I am sure I can list out a few more, just can't think of them right now.

Fujiyama PH was one that I didn't like at all. Makes for a good room/car spray now.

Don't know about recommending them to others, though GIT I would recommend as a blind buy.

Another for Green Irish Tweed. If you find you like Cool Water, chances are you will enjoy GIT, too. Of all my blind buys, this is the one I found instantly pleasant and didn't leave me second-guessing the purchase once. Reviews on here are often an indication of whether or not a fragrance will be more of a chance buying it blindly or not, for example Gucci PH ii as opposed to Kouros.

So i bought Uomo blind after many good reviews here, and while I think the scent is nice, on me it has the _worst_ longevity. Like 10 mins. And that's after ~10 sprays!!! I haven't asked my wife directly but she hasn't left the room gasping yet... Bought direct from Amazon, I certainly hope it's not a fake.

Am I anosmic? Or is it lasting better for others?

I think the best way is to sample it for a day or try to get some sort of sample. I find when I go to stores that have a ton of fragrances, I get overpowered by the smells and can't make a good decision. The last one I bought at a store, I didn't like when I tried it the next day. It wasn't terrible but it was somewhat average. I did get a nice leather bag with it though, so I can't really complain.

Slumberhouse Pear + Olive and I absolutely love it along with other fragrances in the line. I've tested all now after blind buying Pear + Olive. Just had my Rume shipped today. I absolutely love the scent, should be great for a cold Chicago winter.

Cerruti pour homme. underrated fragrance. I didn't expect that at all. decent and cool.

on the other side, i don't recommend blind buying ! most of the fragrances i bought blindly ended up in the closet with a bit or regret when i see them

The cool thing is you can find Cerruti Pour Homme for the price of a Starbucks triple latte..... it is a good scent and at that price if you don't like it you are out very little money. Plus it is an inoffensive scent so you could easily give it to a friend or someone else as well.

I hear this a lot and under ideal circumstances I would agree but sampling everything you are interested in just is not feasible for everyone. I for one mentally just can't get past the idea of buying a sample and then shipping for something that gets you 5 or 6 wearings. I would much rather just buy a bottle and then if I do not like it I will gift it to a friend or family member that does like it.

I do however set rules for myself in blind buying. All fragrances must be under a certain price and they must have better than a 2 to 1 positive to negative ratio.

With that being said I have a feeling that anyone who is asking about blind buys on the forums is going to blind buy something no matter how many times someone says "Don't blind buy" so I would rather point them in a direction of something that is inoffensive to most noses and or relatively cheap. Granted what I find as light, fresh and inoffensive other may find flat out boring .
