Default Trying Heeleys Sel Marin For The First Time

Well I have just tried this one and I got that wow factor. Straight away this reminds me of the seaside with its lemony seasalt opening it captures that aquatic feel perfectly. I know a lot of people have said the same thing but I guess you just have to try for yourself to know. I'm impressed, anyone liking this one.

I enjoy this one too, glad to see some more appreciation for it. It's a good, realistic interpretation of a sea breeze, and so far the only fragrance I've found that closely resembles the smell of ozone wafting on the breeze in New Zealand. Surprisingly good longevity and projection as well for an aquatic.

I personally find it one of the best fragrances in the Heeley's range. Incredibly easy to wear yet very distinctive, reasonably long lasting and with decent projection. Possibly the best bergamot-cedarwood-vetiver rendition in years...

Sampled it last Summer and liked it. I thought it shared similarities with CB I Hate Perfume - Mr. Hulot's Holiday.

I really liked it too when I tried it. Have you also tried Miller Harris Fleurs de Sel? They have a similar feeling.

I get no fishy smell just a lemony salt on a seabreeze, a wonderful scent accord. You close your eyes and you can imagine the blue skies with the smell of Sel Marin coming towards you on a seabreeze.

Have not tried that one but if it's like this one it's gotta be good.

It's fantastic Jack. I have had it for some time now. Built around a lovely light and airy citrus/cedar/vetiver accord. Dry and airy yet it feels like you have just been caught in sea spray! I was a bit dissapointed with longevity to begin with but I have got use to that and anyway it is most lovely used as one would use a Cologne....refreshed often!

    Enjoy it.

    Jack,

One of my favorite all time fragrances. But After 4-5 Sprays I get pretty much Zero Projection and only 2-3 hours of longevity. Have you experienced this also?
Im not going to lie to you; that smells like pure gasoline.

From my spray sample and with four sprays I get four to five hours with just under average projection. To me this would be a holiday fragrance or for those hot Summer days where you can just drench yourself with it. I would not for me anyway class this as a serious everyday work horse fragrance. I would say its a fun fragrance, something you would get if you was going on holiday. Great fragrance though and it really is a fun beach frag.

I get great projection for almost 5 hours. Longevity is 8hrs plus....

This one is on my very small "must try" list. What separates this apart from other aquatics? Is there a stand out note that gives you the wow or is it just perfectly composed? Does it last and project well?

It smells like seaside air with all its nuances, rather than many other aquatics going for 'fresh' I feel.

Heeley's main line is full of great scents. Sel Marin is definitely one of the best takes on a true marine fragrance I have ever tried.

Count me in as a fan of Sel Marin! My favorite 'aquatic' by far. I've only sampled five from Heeleys, but I scored four of them 5* and the other one 4* :

    Sel Marin 5*
    Hippie Rose 5*
    Cuir Plein Fleur 5*
    Menthe Fraiche 5*
    Oranges and Lemons STBOSC 4*

I'm looking forward to trying Agarwoud, Cardinal, Verveine and Iris de Nuit someday.

    My impressions follow:

Sel Marin by Heeley - One is initially treated to a brisk duet of citrus from tart and tangy lemon as well as the fresh sweetness of bergamot. This evanescent opening becomes submerged in the awaiting heart. Here, in the middle, posidonia, with its sea-grass, vegetal highlight and oceanic spiciness, joins with a sprinkling of saltiness to furnish a delightful, seashore apparition. White musk interplays with this briny melange to mimic saltwater drying on the skin. Transitioning to the waiting base, earthy and salty vetiver, birch, with its wintergreen and somewhat medicinal aspects, as well as virginia cedar, with its deep woodiness with a hint of petrol, commingle to create the sensation of algaed, pier pilings exposed to air. A comforting drydown ensues. This singular composition has good, radiating projection, as well as good longevity, 7-9 hours.

Has anyone here smelled both Sel Marin and Henrik Vibskovs "C"? They seem to be going for the same citrussy ocean-feel.

Is this anywhere close to L'Artisan Navegar or is it saltier and more oceanic? I ask because I found Navegar had that driftwood thing going but it was really too much..almost like a peed on carpet or wood floor in an abandoned shack. I like aqua type scents so I really want to give this a try.
