    Kiliwia, congrats on 3000 posts!

We are headed into NYC today, to the Minskoff theater; our daughter was dying to see The Lion King, having heard that the costumes were amazing. The 3:00 show time means that we can't go perfume sniffing first (I don't want to stink out my neighbors with the cacophony of scents they would experience wafting off me after a good testing session.) And there won't be time after the performance, either, as shops close earlier on Sundays. Too bad.

But I'm going in Fleur d'Oranger 2007, which will have basically lost any sillage by the time the show starts.

After a summer of green and chypre things, I thought I would visit the old school. Curious, I did a side by side of Miss Dior, old and newer. Having sniffed, I'll go with the newer one in the sample vial, as the jump to vintage skank might be, well, abrupt after days on end of Volupté. Come fall, when I'm ready to stop wearing sandals and put on some real shoes, my vintage animalics will be there for me.

Been to my niece and nephews Christening. Wore A La Nuit as suitable for church.

Out on a friends Hen Night last night wore an interesting layering of Molinard Vanille, AdP Mandorlo di Sicilia and a tiny dab of Ubar in the mix. Glorious on leaving the house but disturbingly sweet and sickly after a couple of Woo Woos. Should have stuck to my regular "going out" scents of Eau de Soir or No 5

    Enjoy the show, 30 Roses.

There was a baptism in our church this morning, too: a baby girl. They named her Alexandra Grace. She was so sweet, and such a content little thing, the priest wouldn't give her back. He just held her and rocked her while he spoke to the congregation. Then she woke up and started fussing so right back to Mom & Dad she went. It was a sweet baptism.

    I'm wearing Eclat d'Arpege today.

Bibitry, welcome to our side of life. To answer your question: because they can I guess. We are more human here, we speak about our families and events in our lives, we even share recipes and photographs, we sometimes discuss movies, music, celebrities, vacations and activities. We are not afraid to appear silly or weak or ugly or stupid. Everybody is very warm and supportive. We even flirt. Every poster is not just a number hidden behind the name of his/her SotD, we all have and revere our identites. If this all sounds right up your alley, jump in, we do not bite (they are love nibbles every now and then).

Twolf, I have noticed this - I have started to read the SOTD thread lately (and post a sotd here & there) and it is really helping me to get a sense of the people behind the posts - wish I'd started reading this thread sooner!

    Happy Birthday, Ken_Russell!

We're back from seeing The Lion King on Broadway. It was nothing short of a visual marvel. When the first animals to step on stage, the giraffes, made their appearance in the opening scene, I immediately realized I had seriously underestimated the show. It was worth every penny!

We were just left of center in the mezzanine, second row, but I'm sure the folks in the back row had an excellent view of the stage as well; the inclination was quite steep.

Not terribly sure on either, the Emeraude is probably, maybe at least pre-1980's according to posters here and on Fragrantica. The Shalimar is a mini I picked up at an estate sale and looks old, sorry if that doesn't help much. They start of pretty similar, but the Emeraude stays more woodier and the citrus fades pretty quick, the Shalimar became sweeter, had more vanilla and had more faces, if that makes any sense. Sorry, I don't have best nose and can't identify notes well at all.
