Thread: Coco Noir

    Default Coco Noir

Firstly, it's a flanker of Coco Mademoiselle not Coco.
Secondly, the drydown smells horrible. It's sickening sweet (hard patch candy).
    Originality - 0 %.

Well, since Coco Mademoiselle is a flanker of Coco,
Coco Noir is still - technically - a Coco flanker ...

    ... just sayin'!

It's sad that Chanel does not create good perfumes anymore.
Chance eau tendre was a shampoo scent.
No 19 Poudre was poudre without iris and fantasy.
Cristalle eau vert was interesting, but I guess it sells not so good.

    Masculine scents are catastrophic too:
Bleu de Chanel = Hugo Boss
Allure Homme Sport extreme - irrelevant too sweet variation of superb Allure homme sport

Not yet, but I have a sample coming my way.
I can't wait. You?! You like it?!

And to DreamerII; as I agree with the latest
female frags have been boring. I disagree
    with the male ones.
Both Bleu and Extrême are fab frags, IMHO!

Not yet but im not expecting too much.
I would be pleased with an Exclusif launch!

And I disagree with you, female launchs have some miss but some are good, specially Poudre.
    The males are a disaster...

I am not too impressed with some of the Chanels either as of late, sorry Duc! hugs! I liked the dry down a bit on the Noir...but not enough to buy a bottle. It is more like Coco M than Coco. Less sweet than Coco M. I think. Less patchouli. I do like 5 Eau Premiere and well, I kinda like Chance LOL, I know, right?. But I like it. I need to sniff that Poudre again and try AHSE...haven't done that yet. I do have more appreciation for original Coco after sniffing the Noir though.

Most of Chanel's men's frags in the last 15 years have been disappointing (except for EB IMO). I'm not including the exclusifs because I havent tried enough to give my opinion of them. The women's releases have been far better but have taken a disappointing turn as of late, hope this isn't another one of them....Chanel really need to step up their game....

I have tried this today..........what´s going on Chanel ? You´re turning out some absolute shit these past few years.
This is unfortunately no exception. Anything but "noir"........more like blanc, as in white flowers, (very synthetic) with tonnes of syrupy "fruits rouge" thrown in. In fact this is fruity more than anything else - and cheap and nasty smelling fruity too.
The most hideous smelling concoction since Babydoll....that should say it all. No doubt Turin will give it 5 stars......

Smells very much like Coco Mademoiselle, only stronger, sweeter : although I think Coco M is okay, I really don't like this one.

My husband's comment: it smells like baby's shampoo.

And, it's very expensive - why ?? It smells synthetic !

    Ducky, good point.

I have yet to try this, but I prefer the plain Coco to the Mademoiselle.

I sampled this on a blotter, I found it horrible.

Smell Cavallier's Midnight Poison and you will not find expensive ingredients, however you will find nice proportions and subtle glamour of rose and patchouli.

It's the "women's" Bleu de Chanel - bland, boring and banal. Unfortunately, I think this is now the norm for the Chanel non-Exclusif line.

I concur with David and others who have described this scent as disappointing. I tried it today on the back of my right hand. My experience? A splash of grapefruit as it went on, then one hell of a purple fruiti-patooti, sugary sweet mess.

I'm not a fan of fruity florals - with the exceptions of Badgley Mischka and YSL Cinema - so this was a scrubber on me.

Here's hoping Chanel turn out more modern classics such as Eau Premiere, and stop playing to the peanut gallery.

Don't beat me but I quite like it. It's nothing special or innovative but I can enjoy it a little and I'm sure it will become a Christmas bestseller.

Found it great on my girlfriend. Wouldn't touch it myself.

On her, dark DARK chocolate and some vanilla mixed with flowers came alive in the drydown. Very smooth, very good and very natural, like an extension of her rather than some loud obnoxious fragrance.

I really liked it on her, and she did too, but on me? No way. WAY too feminine ...

I was thrilled when i first heard of Coco Noir, because Coco is such a great scent! I was expecting something even more animalic with Noir. But it was such a letdown. It came across as a cheap, synthetic-smelling version of Coco. not sure about others, but too much synthetic chemicals just make me feel nauseous.
