Don't really like either, but I think GIT is miles fresher.
i need a fresh scent on my collection and i cant decide between this 2 please help. which would u buy?
GIT OR HERMES EDT
Don't really like either, but I think GIT is miles fresher.
I would not characterize either of those scents as epitomizing a fresh scent.
Both are nice and fresh. My vote would go to GIT though if I had to pick one. I even have a 2010 batch, which supposedly is weaker..perhaps, still very fresh and clean and gets compliments. I will always have a bottle of this on hand, period.
I also bought Silver Mountain Water-another very fresh, clean scent. I have a classmate who works at a hospital and when I go to class I will wear different frags-she has a very sensitive nose, great sense of smell...she always tells me what she thinks of the frag, when I walk in. She really liked SMW, as it is just an overall clean, unique, unoffensive scent that works on any occaison.
Both nice. My pick - GIT.
I like both but I never found TdH that fresh. So for the freshness department I'd go with GIT.
Green Irish Tweed
"I drank what?" -Socrates
Top 5 current fragrances:
1. Creed Cedre Blanc
2. Tom Ford Costa Azzurra
3. Bond no 9 Montauk
4. Creed Green Irish Tweed
5. Tom Ford Neroli Portofino
Have you tried Bleu de Chanel?
TDH is great, but it's not what I think of when I hear the words "fresh scent."
Though I like both, GIT
Another vote for GIT.
GIT to my nose is a spice fougére
Terre d'hermes - Aromatic
Milesime Imperiale by Creed is an example of a fresh scent.
I like TdH very much, but I wouldn't consider it a "fresh" scent at all.
Current Top 5:
1. Frederic Malle L'eau d'Hiver
2. Tom Ford Noir de Noir
3. Dior Homme / Dior Homme Intense
4. Thierry Mugler A*Men Pure Havane / Pure Malt
5. Creed Aventus / Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille
GIT. Don't really care for TdH.
GIT. No question.
Seriously, it depends on the climate you're wearing it in.
GIT is only fresh in wet and windy weather. The "green" aspect of this scent is what brings it to life.
TdH is more of a refreshing scent in warm and hot climates. It is one of the summer scents for me and in this respect I am referring to the EdT version.
My choice would be TdH though. I think GIT is too over-hyped.
If anything is over hyped on Basenotes its TdH.
The only one out of those two I'd wear is Green Irish Tweed.
Love them both, but easily prefer TdH. I, like some other posters question whether it should be categorized as a "fresh" fragrance, however. TdH certainly does have some fresh characteristics, but GIT is probably closer to the mark with respect to that category.
Current Top Favorites:
1) Portrait of a Lady original formula (EdP Frédéric Malle)
2) Giorgio for Men vintage/V.I.P. for Men (Giorgio Beverly Hills)
3) Dia Man vintage edt (Amouage)
4) Les Nombres d'Or Vetyver (Mona di Orio) - tie
4) Lalfeorosa (O'driů) - tie
6) Anat Fritz Original Formula and Classical (Anat Fritz)
7) Captain vintage (Molyneux)
8) Tzora (Anat Fritz)
Neither is fresh. Both are good.
Current Top Five:
1. Creed Green Irish Tweed
2. Tom Ford Neroli Portofino
3. Hermes Concentre d'Orange Verte
4. Bond No. 9 New Haarlem
5. Creed Original Vetiver
Don't think of either as "fresh", GIT probably comes closer though. TdH is a flinty cedar, it's really dry, but not exactly fresh.
GIT is green and aromatic. It smells refreshing to my nose.
If you want a cleaner green smell...GIT
If you a more citrusy (orange) smell...TDH
man I actually warmed up to TDH...I so wish I hadn't bought so many other ones, I'd buy it now cause it's good stuff (both this and GIT are totally amazing)
My sales thread
I don't particularly like GIT. My vote goes to TDH
GIT smells like strolling through a green hillside on a rainy day. Terre D'Hermes smells like orange peels and dirt. Which one sounds fresher to you?
"I am a robot and I like cheese"
1. Axe Kilo
2. Lectric Shave
3. Vicks Vapor Rub
4. Febreze Pour Homme
5. Preferred Stock
1. Creed - Spice & Wood
2. Creed - Aventus
3. Dior - Vetiver
4. by Kilian - Straight to Heaven
5. by Kilian - Cruel Intentions
6. Puredistance - Black
7. Tom Ford - Plum Japonais
8. Neela Vermeire - Trayee
9. Creed - Royal Oud
10. Chanel - Egoiste
There is nothing "fresh" about Terre d'Hermes.
Green Irish Tweed is somewhat fresh smelling, but I would hardly call it a "fresh" fragrance.
Out of the two, I would pick GIT.
For freshness, G.I.T. Just make sure that you get a good batch.
+1 for GIT
They're kinda at different ends of the spectrum. I love both, GIT will be a really fresh cut meadow, while Terre D' Hermes will be a earthy and dirty orange. Terre is a lot more unique, you won't find many like it, but GIT is top quality juice.
GIT. TdH isn't fresh to me.
Green Irish Tweed...I do find it somewhat fresh, actually, or at least REfreshING. There's a richness and "weight" to it, however, especially in the dry-down, which is why I think many others are saying it isn't truly a "fresh" scent. Great quality, juice, either way and likely more pleasing and versatile to the larger majority.
I've said above that TdH would be my easy choice here, but I've also come to learn (from experience) that the "Basenotes option" is to simply get both. Sooner or later you will get the other one as well, so if you can spare the dosh, go for it.
Either Creed GIT or Milesime Imperiale. TdH isn't what I'd really consider 'fresh'. Very nice, but not fresh.
I love them both, but I'd go for GIT for a fresh fragrance.
Had both of these and the greener of the two IMO is GIT. However Baie de Genievre by Creed is, to my nose, way nicer than GIT, just as green and a little less obvious...
Tom Ford Black Orchid
Acqua di Parma Colonia
Creed Baie de Genievre
Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan
Serge Lutens Rahat Loukoum
Serge Lutens Douce Amere
Parfum d'Empire Aziyade
MFK Lumiere Noire
Etat Libre d'Orange Noel au Balcon
Etat Libre d'Orange Delicious Closet Queen
Guerlain Habit Rouge
There ain't no devil - that's just god when he's drunk
If I had to choose between these two, I would go with Terre...
