    Default The smell of rain...

Can anyone recommend a fragrance that smells like or reminds them of the smell of rain? Something like the smell just after a rainstorm.

The only perfumes I can think of that vaguely fits this description is Demeter Thunderstorm or Narciso Rodriguez musc oil

I do second Horizon, as it has a moist, damp vibe to it.

I feel like Bond no 9 Eau De New York, or Art of Shaving Lemon (they both smell the same, Art of shaving being way cheaper) smell a lot like rain.

IMO, Angeliques sous la Pluie by Frederic Malle is by far the best you will find.

The runner-up is Bois d'Orage by Frederic Malle.

I haven't had the pleasure of smelling it yet, but this might do the trick...CB I hate Perfume Water Series. This series includes the scents of all things wet: oceans, seas, tidal pools, rivers, ponds, streams as well as the scents of rain, cloudbursts, and falling snow. There are also scents in this series that are the smells of wet things – wet rocks, petals floating on water, and even the smell of wet sidewalks.

    Thank you!

And thanks for all your recommendations. Odeur 53 and Bois d'Orage sound exactly like what I'm looking for... There are some others here I will try and sample as well.

You really wouldn't want to smell of the rain here today. It's been tropical so the farmer has been much spreading on the hill pastures. Course now it's raining cow shit scented rain in the valley

I agree; see my impressions ↓↓↓:

Derring-Do for Men by Ineke - One is initially treated to a flurry of invigorating, citrus smells. This sparkling accord has sweet and sour aspects with the zingy grapefruit at the helm. Nascent, watery notes gather strength and come to the fore in a graceful wave of petrichor, that special smell of earth, caressed by raindrops after a dry spell, releasing its pent-up energy. Some metallic smell, perhaps, the exposure of minerals from the force of the rainfall, flutters about. Staid cyclamen joins to highlight its lightly floral greenness evoking thoughts of leaves bathing in a sun shower. These accords are quite refreshing, and trickle to the awaiting middle. Here, elegant magnolia infuses the chaste, rain notes with its creamy, lemony, floral goodness with ghosts of verdure. Also, a pepper note with its lively spiciness, as well as a cardamom note with its prickly smokiness add to the delight of the heart. Transitioning to its pleasing base, sweet and airy guaiacwood along with buttery and rich, virginia cedarwood impart their delightful woodiness. And, a faintly powdery musk with its clean and fresh elements joins the satisfying woods to meander to the refreshful drydown. This bracing composition revels in the spring and summer, and has good projection and longevity.
