I need your help & opinions! I am looking for a Fall (Daytime temperature ranges from low 70's to upper 40's.) fragrance with I can wear daily to the office or any event. Here is what I am looking for in the fragrance:
- Moderate projection: something that will get noticed, but that is not overpowering
- Good longevity: 6hrs minimum, preferably 8hrs as that would cover my full day at work
- Versatile, I need something that I can not only wear to the office, but anywhere
- Universal appeal: I'm looking for a "safe" fragrance, I don't want to offend anyone
- Price: value here is key, i don't mind forking out some decent money, but nothing ridiculously priced
- Uniqueness: I have no problem whatsoever with designer frags, but I am looking for something that not everyone else is wearing
Any ideas? Thanks if advance for all your input!
Hugo Boss Bottled is a very safe fragrance with medium projection, beautiful scent and around 8+ longevity. A large bottle can be picked up on Amazon or at a discount store for relatively cheap. I've never received anything but compliments on this scent. Boss Bottled gets noticed by others without being intrusive.
I was in the same situation and I went with Creed Himalaya and it worked out great.
For many of the criteria I was thinking Chanel Sycomore. Fresh for work and office use, it's also complex enough thanks to the woods and smoke. It's not cheap though.
Penhaligons Opus 1870 - Rose and Cedar, perfect for the office.
Floris Eau De Santal - Nice soft spicy scent thats totally inoffensive, a gentlemans Gucci Envy.
Gucc Pour Homme II - Soft spicy tea based fragrance.
Penhaligons Sartorial - A modern take on the fougere fragrances.
Acqu Di Parma - Colonia
I would say Guerlain L'instant.
I just purchased this for all your reasons listed, it is crazy good!
"I have the simplest tastes. I am always satisfied with the best." - Oscar Wilde (1854-1900)
Mugler Cologne is a very safe, clean scent that can be worm to the office daily.
I doesn't get much love around here. But if you can find a cheap bottle of Gucci by Gucci, the folks in my office really like it on me. It isn't the perfect frag by any means, but I get reasonable longevity with a nice light sillage.
Arpege Pour Homme.
L'Essence de Cerruti by Cerruti - One is initially treated to an invigorating bergamot, with its orangey bittersweetness and peppery facets. The freshness of the bergamot commingles with the compost-like and ever-so-slight barnyard aspects of white pepper. Segueing to the middle, the mintiness of birch encases the fresh opening, and infuses its wintergreen sweetness. A raw and somewhat phenolic leather wafts in the background along with the hay-like character of saffron. Transitioning to the comforting base, a creamy cedar infuses its resinous and camphoraceous woodiness, along with the sweetly vanillic and faintly earthy quality of amber. A sensual, fur/skin-like and warm musk also presents. An alluring drydown ensues. This masculine composition is well blended, and has good longevity, 8+ hours, and average projection, being light enough for an office scent. Given its very reasonable, price point, this versatile and somewhat elegant composition is worthy of purchase.
Thank you all for your advice, it's much appreciated. Here is my feedback on all the suggestions:
Burberry London - I've ordered a bottle
Boss Bottled - Still debating, unsure if it's too generic
Creed Himalaya - looking at the notes, definitely looks like its right up my alley, always problematic finding fair priced authentic Creeds
Chanel Sycomore - wonderful suggestion, I need to get down to the store to sniff that one out, I think I might really like it
Penhaligons Opus 1870 - don't know much about this one, would need to sample
Floris Eau De Santal - going to get this for next year after my bottle of OS runs out lol
Gucc Pour Homme II - I'm not a big fan of tea based frags, plus I hear the longevity on this one is suspect at best
Penhaligons Sartorial - something different, I will probably buy a bottle of this
Acqu Di Parma Colonia - my brother had a bottle of this, not a huge fan, longevity is fleeting, and it's perhaps too "mature" for my taste! nonetheless I have worn this one a bunch of times in the summer
LIDGE - I have this one and absolutely love it, howver I find it better suited towards night
Mugler Cologne - need to sample
Gucci by Gucci - had a bottle of this in the past and I liked it!
Platinum Egoiste - have this one, in my spring rotation
Prada Amber - good suggestion, i've sampled this one and I am on the fence...
Burberry Brit - I'll need to check this one out
Arpege Pour Homme - I want to sample this one
GIT - I finished my bottle this spring
L'Essence de Cerruti by Cerruti - thanks for the wonderful desciprtion, sounds very nice, and like you noted, for the $23 I can't lose.
F pour Homme by Salvatore Ferragamo

You won't be disappointed with BB London. Although popular, it doesn't get much play today. To be quite honest, aside from sampling it, I can't remember the last time I caught a whiff of it.
Great scent, very welcoming, perfect for the office!
le nuit! try it and youll see in your price range as well
I think you will love Tom Ford Extreme.

In addition to the great aforementioned suggestions: Rive Gauche PH (great for any season, but also standing out perfectly during autumn climate).
I've received a few compliments on both prada amber & boss bottled (I'd like to say boss bottled is a bit more on the safer side, with prada amber i'm always afraid i might go one sprays too many for the office)
if only polo's double black would last a bit longer on my skin, I'd recommend it, doesn't get past 5h on my skin
