There's not enough Ibuprofen on Planet Earth to quell what Hascish Homme can do to an unsuspecting basenoter.

Cuba Gold gives me nausea. And I don't have strong enough stomach to give it a second try.

Oh, forgot to mention, I had a bad headache while testing Obsession (F) in my teen.
Not sure how will I react to it now.

Yes, Touch gave me a headache for sure. Almost turned me off of fragrances, as I became bitter I had wasted time and money on that bottle. This was when I was a bit younger.

Another one for me is Comptoir Sud Pacifique Aqua Motu. I regret having my bottle "disposed" because I may have been able to sell it, but that was before I registered on Basenotes. This fragrance genuinely scared me.

Also, just to note, getting headaches from these 2 fragrances (for me) is no exaggeration. It was not a fun experience at all with these 2 scents. Thank goodness I am starting to learn not to blind buy.

Givenchy Insense and Givenchy Insense Ultramarine are immediate headaches and sinus aches and I don't like them. But on a different scale, some rose notes make me feel like I ve inhaled powder and a feeling like "a headache is coming", although I do not dispise rose. It may also make me feel a bit melancholic....

And although I love A*men when applied judiciously (mist and walkthrough), it will bring on the headache if over-applied. Proceed with caution.

L'Eau d'Issey is the number one migraine inducer (and to think I used to wear it once or thrice), although I think anything by Aramis gives me a headache now, and some of the men's Chanel range - used to wear Allure Homme a lot, but it gives me a headache these days.

I find this a great frag but i just can't take the drydown.gives me a headache n sometimes i get nauseous. And the fact that its so damm long lasting makes it worse for me. I want to like it but its hard. Hmmm...maybe its because of the number of sprays (6)..lol

Amouage Reflection - Splitting headache every time within half hour of spraying, so I had to sell my bottle. It's a pity as well because the fragrance was lovely, it just didn't agree with me.
Green Irish Tweed - After about a hour and half, it starts to get very nauseating on me.
Any Tauer Orange Star - Absolutely disgusting, the worse perfume I've ever smelt to date and this made me feel sick when I sprayed it.

Nausea: many that have saffron and/or vanilla, and gourmands generally, among them:
    Chinatown
    Rose Kashmirie,
    L'Air du Desert Marocain
    Giorgio and knockoffs.

    Default Fragrances inducing headache

    Hi everyone,
I noticed that everytime I wear Acqua di Parma both original Colonia and Assoluta after a couple of hours I get headache. I normally wear no more than three light sprays, a couple on the chest and one on the neck. It does happen with the original D&G pour Homme as well.
Anyone else experienced the same? Is there any similar note those fragrances share which might trigger my headache? I have the feeling it's a herbal note of some kind which really makes me dizzy.
    Opinions?

Sweet, ambery, vanillic, musky or indolic fragrances all tend to make me both headachey and nauseated. There are exceptions, but not many. Oh, and saffron-- love it in food, hate it in perfume.

Florals especially white florals are my triggers - freesia, gardenia, peony. For some reason it took me really long to make the connection, I just thought I was sensitive to fragrances in general, silly me - but then I found Basenotes If you think it┤s a herbal note it could be lavender or rosemary but then again it could be anything. If you┤ve got herbs in your kitchen try sniffing them to see if there┤s anything revoltingly familiar.

I've tried many fragrances, and although I may dislike some of them,
very few, if any have given me a headache.

The one exception that comes to mind is Chanel Platinum Egoiste.
I don't know what the particular note or accord
is that causes it, but there is something about
it that gives me a headache every time I've tried
    to wear it.

Thanks Velouette, in fact I do think it's rosemary. I love it fresh, and use it for cooking and use to grow it as well, but i have the feeling it does not work on my skin. In fact, it does happen with Cool Water too, which has quite a prominent rosemary note. I reckon rosemary extract might be too heavy for me...

Now that I think about it Cuir d'Oranger came close. A dry, semi-herbal (thyme) leather with florals (jasmine x iris) more radiant than No. 5.

Loud, feminine and irritating as hell. It was marketed to men but usually sold as a feminine in Europe. It's discontinued and I can understand why. One of those deceptive fragrances that's compelling in samples but wears like something completely different. I sold my two bottles without any hesitation.

Amouage Dia Man, cK One, Eternity for Men and in sufficient doses, Halston Z-14.

Robert Piguet's Baghari comes close sometimes, too, which is a shame because it is one of my favorite fragrances. This side effect is the main reason I have not purchased a bottle yet.

I try to avoid this by always sampling first with one spray to the ankle. Then I waft it up to my nose by waving my hand up. If it starts to bother me I just stop doing that. If I think it's good but too strong I dilute it with vodka in a vial and dab it on. If it's too weak I can just add more tiny dabs until I get it just right.

This "vodka" solution of yours, Bigsly, has intrigued me since I joined BN.

I have yet to try it, probably on the (correct) assumption that I would end up convincing myself that such measures represent a waste of perfectly good vodka. And in a cruel twist of fate, my preferred course of action with the stuff also tends to induce headaches.
