Default Creed Original Vetiver vs. Chanel Sycomore

I'm considering one of the following for my next purchase and have heard nothing but great reviews for both, thus making my decision even tougher.

Out of the 2, which do you prefer and why?

    Thanks!

I love them both and own both but I prefer Creed Original Vetiver as it wears better on my skin.

Sycomore by about 60 trillion miles... It's one of my absolute favorite vetivers, while OV seriously underwhelmed me and smelled just boring and generic...

Chanel Sycomore - because everything about it is infinitely better than Original Vetiver.

    Garbage? Rather harsh!

OV is a fantastic fragrance. I have both as part of my collection, and enjoy both of them equally. Really depends on my mood which I will wear.

OV - because everything about it is infinitely better than Sycomore. Or not ... sigh.

They're both great, truth be told. Sycamore is harder to wear, weirder and could garner you less compliments. They're not even remotely the same fragrance anyways, so why not get one and chill out and wait - then get the other one?

Interesting question, as I've only just sampled the two of them pretty recently - and I think they're both very good indeed (I have a bottle of OV on order).

To me, OV is greener and fresher, and Sycomore is more "rooty vetiver" and woody, if that makes sense - they are very different.

Close one for me. I would side with Sycomore having better quality fragrance.

They are both excellent fragrances. Not very similar either. No reason not to have both in a serious collection.

Sycamore is like Encre Noire (which is cheaper) and is a strong vetiver. Creed original Vetiver is lighter and soapy. Depending on what your preferences are they are at opposite ends of the spectrum. In the past I would have gone Sycomore but now I would find OV more wearable. Guerlain Vetiver is closer to OV if anyone is interested in that one.

I ended up going Prada Vetiver because it was way cheaper and the ginger mixed with pepper was more interesting than Creed Vetiver's ginger (different frag than OV), and has a decent burst of vetiver.

Original Vetiver for me, as it's MUCH more versatile than Sycomore. Sycomore is way too smoky for my tastes.

Although I like its overall scent, I've found that Sycomore isn't appropriate for every situation due to it's extreme smokiness. It can clear a room in close quarters.

Consequently, if I was wanting the general scent of Sycomore, I would probably opt for Encre Noire, as it's more tame.

Both have cheaper alternatives. I'm not sure Sycomore is a good fragrance for a classroom/office setting. However, Original Vetiver makes me feel blissful. I should've gotten a sample with my recent Creed purchase.

I was literally just thinking about sycomore this morning because i wore Dior Vetiver today. I'd like to pick up a bottle of Sycomore, but i had a sample from Chanel that seemed like it didn't last very long. I didn't give it a full wear, just kind of sprayed a couple times on my arm.

I LOVE the way sycomore smells. Its like a slightly smokey, sweet vetiver. But for the price, i'd like to get some good performance.

Has anyone bought Sycomore recently? How is the performance?

As was said, these are two very different scents, one grassy, one rooty, so they're not directly comparable.

I prefer Sycomore because I'm generally not a fan of soapy, grassy smells.

If you prefer uber fresh and green, OV all the way.
If you prefer a little sultry, and rooty, Sycomore.

OV is a nice light green citrus vetiver, a "workman like" frag. Its not a star fragrance even in the Creed line.

Sycomore is possibly one of the best frags from Chanel in quite a long time. Smoky, slightly sweet with an undercurrent of trademark Chanel aldehydes.

Sycomore vs Spice and Wood might be a more even battle.
