Its been an incredibly enjoyable time on basenotes learning about fragrances and the joy of wearing it - i've got to know many new houses, and immensely enjoyed many fragrances - few kind members were so gracious enough to send me samples - some didnt even take any cash for it! and i thank all of your deeply! - My Love for this art-from and its people will only grow! As of this Month i am deciding to purchase Filles En Arguilles and Muscs Koublai Khan From Serge Lutens (Through The Basenotes Poll - thoughts and anecdotes from basenotes members) - My recent additions have been Opus VI and Epic Man by Amouage, Aramis Concentree by Aramis, Bel Ami, Un Jardin Apres La Mousson etc - all of this very enjoyable! i tend to steer towards Oriental-Spicy olfactory group - although yet to find the perfect "Oriental-Spicy-Fougere".
Due to geographical situations where i will work for the next 14 months! Purchasing Fragrance is Impossible for ME! The reason why - i need you guys to pick the 2 Bottles i will buy to close my fragrance purchasing episode.
When you vote, please be kind enough to only do so if you have an idea of all the scents posted, if you have only used and know i.e Creed Aventus not the others please refrain from voting.
I will be moving to a very hot country with very high humidity with some rainfall here and there - and yes my entire collection is going to be in transit with me for more than a year! nevertheless i will have access to a computer where i can read all the wonderful industry rants!
Thank you so much in advance!!!
Thank you and Sayonara Till Next Year!!!
Hey Benz, I'm not sure I get it...you want us to toss out two more fragrances? Any kind of fragrances? Any genre you prefer beside the oriental fougere?
Leather Oud and Lubin (EDP)
Idole is special. That bottle is amazing. Was in a shop in knutsford and i dropped the cap and it broke..........
Leather Oud and Idole De Lubin (EDT)...I didn't like the EDP. Honorable mention to Opus IV...
Idole de Lubin (either edt or edp, with a slight preference for the edp)

i don't think you'll be able to keep that promise lol
Idole for sure - this is one is utterly unique. I suspect the original EDT is the better option given the kind of composition it is.
My other choice would be Interlude Man, and from what you say about your own tastes (and the fact that you have Opus VI) I think it would fit in well as a more relaxed, aromatic oriental.
Leather Oud is wonderful but after a few wears from samples I'm not sure it is one I will buy - a bit single minded, almost like a basenote. Okay if you want that (Epic Man is similar in that regard) but the Leather Oud accord also crops up as a base in the new Guerlain Songe d'un Bois d'Ete and works better for me as part of a more complex composition, personally.
Leather Oud and Idole hands down. Though I admit I've never smelled the Mississippi one.
I went with Aventus b/c it's amazing and Idole b/c the bottle looks epic.

I was in the store just recently - I've been to KL three times in the last month or so. I found myself wearing Opus VI a lot while I was down there - seemed great in that environment. Honour Man is quite nice - it's more of an 'easy wear' with the terrific aromatic pepper oil opening and then slipping into a creamy wood vibe that you can take anywhere - it's a smooth one.
I was close to buying Leather Oud but in the end I just picked up another bottle of Granville - I wish they had the big bottles here, Dior in HK still only sell the 100ml. The 450 ml would suit me fine
Yes indeed - i didnt think too much about getting VI - i think its just right for the climate, especially evenings!
For the Record - The Last Two Purchases were Leather Oud by Christian Dior ; i forfeited the CREED and went for Amouage Interlude Instead; can't imagine spending that amount of money on a "high-end designer" fragrance.
Thank you all!
