Thread: Hermes Rocabar or Aramis Havana?
OK everyone, here we go. I've narrowed my next purchase down to another two. Both these scents are in a league of their own, so assuming the choice is just a simple one or the other, which would you go for and why?
No particular criteria here. I like woody scents and always up for something new. But those scents that I do like (e.g. as per my wardrobe) I tend to stick to like glue
1. Dior Homme Original
2. Musc Ravaguer
3. Portrait of a Lady
4. Noir de Noir
5. L Instant Guerlain pour Homme Extreme
6. New Haarlem
7. Pure Coffee
8. Blu Mediterraneo Sicilian Almond
9. Rose 31
10. Spiritueuse Double Vanille
Rocabar by a country mile.
1. Creed - Spice & Wood
2. Creed - Aventus
3. Dior - Vetiver
4. by Kilian - Straight to Heaven
5. by Kilian - Cruel Intentions
6. Puredistance - Black
7. Tom Ford - Plum Japonais
8. Neela Vermeire - Trayee
9. Creed - Royal Oud
10. Chanel - Egoiste
Rocabar, landslide victory.
Wow, I had no idea Rocabar was this popular. I am very tempted now.
As always please cast your vote if you haven't already!
Haha, if this same poll was done while Havana was still rare and not yet reintroduced by Aramis, it would have trounced Rocabar.
I still pick Havana. Light application. Rocabar is high quality but just doesn't work for me. There's an underlying sweet note that I find a little grating. Havana is a classic with impeccable blending and complexity, and it's very dry, which I like.
Rocabar is softer and more romantic, and would probably go over well with others.

Havana, by infinity.

Rocabar is by far more pleasing to my nose. Havana I have never been able to appreciate. Its tobacco is.....not really tobacco to me. It reminds me of an ash tray or perhaps a room where one has smoked. Its too green in a way for me as well. I think Ulrich Lang's Anvers does a better interpretation of that tobacco accord. I really find Havana to be overhyped and believe me, I don't like to say such things.
At the very least, Rocabar smells nice. It does leave me wanting in a way. It probably wears too close to the skin after a couple of hours. Perhaps a notch too sweet. But I still like it.

Rocabar has the most amazing topnotes, but afterwards becomes somewhat dull IMO. Havana is quite the opposite.

I voted for Aramis Havana.

Looks like we're neck and neck now...
