Cold and rainy here. I am baking braided yeast bread for the first time... looking good. Aptly I am in the spicy, hot Caron Poivre.

Good evening. It rained for the first time in Tokyo in more than 2 weeks! I'm enjoying the cooler air.

I went to Satori parfum salon yesterday and got a sample set containing 10 fragrances. I'm wearing Lady Murasaki on my left wrist and Black Peony on my right. LM is a pretty and light fragrance and BP is a creamy, floriental. I'm liking Black Peony a lot.

    Black Peony;
    Top notes of bergamot, mandarin
Middle notes of orange flower, violet, geranium
Base notes of sandalwood, musk, patchouli, amber, moss, vanilla

The salon was a tiny space on the ground floor of a commercial building and Satori herself helped me try her fragrances. Unfortunately, they had sold out of Black Peony, so I'll have to wait a while if I decide to buy it. I also got a free sample of Iris Homme and the signature perfume Satori. Send me a PM if anyone wants to try.

    Iris Homme - (GONE)
    Top notes
    Lemon, elemi, cassis, prune
    Middle notes
    Iris (Nioi-Ayame), violet, jasmine
    Base notes
    Vetiver, sandalwood, light musk

    Satori
    Type
    woody, oriental incense
    Topnotes
    bergamot, coriander
    Middle notes
    cinnamon, clove, cacao
    Base notes
    frankincense, sandalwood, oak moss

    Good morning, old friends.
For today's opposite-sex SnS, I've poured Aventus down the cavern of my 42D cleavage (is that a world first?). Will discuss Aventus' virtues in the SnS thread.

I haven't worn any fumes in days. Yesterday I didn't even brush my hair as I finished "roughing in" the new computer set-up. The new Mac Mini is pretty great.

Today is a cleaning marathon day for me at home alone. Mr. Quarry and our little Pebble are at a 12-hour track event. I expect DH will run at least a marathon (26.3 miles), and our daughter may nearly double that. OH, THE STINKING LAUNDRY THEY'LL BRING HOME!!!

Hugs and hugs and smooches all around!

Ladymurasaki, what a great experience! Very happy for you that Satori took care of you, how cool!

Very pleased to see both Quarry and Warum yesterday! Will be holding you to those promises, gals!

So even though it is muggy hot and looking like storms, we are apparently going camping and canoeing. Now,
I'm pretty outdoorsy but in this type of weather, I like my camping trips to include a hotel suite! Wish me luck! Taking JCE with me, wearing Bulgari au The Vert today.

I'm wearing L'Artisan Fleur d'Oranger today-- I need a cheerful scent for our day out.

Mom just called my cell phone and demanded to know where her money is, and threatened to cut me from her will (first time for that, but not the last, I'm sure.) She says her wallet is empty; I made sure it wasn't, but apparently she doesn't look any more, just assumes it is empty. (I had to hunt in her closet the other day to locate the money she'd hidden and return it to her wallet.) She is afraid she'll be tossed out on the street due to having no money. I've left prominent notes on her table to reassure her about her secure living arrangements and that she has enough money, but reassurance seems to last a shorter and shorter time. Such is dementia.

I am tempted to turn off my cell phone when we go out, so I can actually relax for a few hours, but that might only make her panic more.

    Hello everyone!

Well, we're still in NY, but Tony's tied up with business at the moment so I've got a little time to kill before getting over to the tennis center this morning. It's gotten warmer here, so I'm going to try my best to keep my cool in the refreshing, vivacious and elegant Bel Respiro today.

    Y'all have a great day!

Getting my 1970s style on in a little Aromatics Elixir lotion with two drops of Tea Rose lotion mixed in ... somehow manages to make me think of Annie Hall, Gloria Steinem, and Stevie Nicks all at the same time.

Mrs. Q, I'll second the sentiment that your calm, cool and lovely chest would always be a resting respite for a weary head from the harsh day to day living. Child like calm. I love your words. And from them, I know you are special beyond words.

Easy, breezy O de Lancome today after some sweltering tennis. Maybe something more complicated for the evening, but for now, this is just right.

(((30 Roses))), I can relate to what you are going through, my mom did the same thing. She would hide her possessions and money at the nursing home because she was sure people were trying to steal from her. It's so hard on family members that have to deal with it. In your case it's even worse since you are doing it all alone. You have to take time for yourself and don't feel guilty for doing it. I hope you had the chance to get away and have a nice relaxing day, you deserve it.

Trying out Penhaligons Duoro Eau de Portugal for the sync. Notes include geranium, lemon, lime, mandarin, bergamot, lavender, basil, neroli, muguet, labdanum, oakmoss, musk and sandalwood. It's a very classy aromatic and I like it, but I think I'd rather smell this on my husband. I think it's the lime that makes me feel that way.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

I'm home and checking in before sacking out. Thanks to you all, I really appreciate your words and kind thoughts.

I left my cell phone on for the trip, and it was just as well, because not 10 minutes after we left the house, I got a phone call from the on-call nurse. My mother had hit the emergency call bell in her apartment and said she didn't feel well, which triggered a visit from the Assisted Living services nurse. (Mom has never done this before, other than when she broke her hip.)

Her vital signs were normal, and I had to explain to the nurse what had been going on with Mom all this past week, and how she's gotten herself all worked up worrying about her money. The nurse understood and said she would take it from there. I pretty much fretted for the rest of the way to Mystic, waiting for the other shoe to drop, but the rest of the day was quiet.

Then on the trip home, I phoned Mom to invite her out for dinner tomorrow, but she sounded awful-- she'd been crying. She sobbed that she missed Dad, and that she was lonely, and felt like she's trapped there, and that she wanted me to ask God to let her die. She said she wasn't sleeping at night. When we got home, I found a phone message from her asking why I never visit her (I do, a lot.) I headed over there and administered a pill that helps her sleep (which he has a prescription for, but had stopped taking a few months ago as she felt she didn't need it; clearly she does, again.)

Tomorrow is another day. I hope we have a bit of peace. Mom has a routine follow-up appointment scheduled for Tuesday at geriatric psychiatry center, and I will go over it all with them. Maybe she needs an adjustment to her meds; we'll see.
