Default Lancme Hypnse Homme - My little review.

I bought this fragrance two days ago and am genuinely impressed. I'll say what I think about this fragrance!

    The price:

In the UK, you can pick up a 50ml bottle for around 39. I picked mine up on offer for about 24?

    Longevity + Projection

This stuff is a projection monster - I'd probably measure it to JPG Le Male in terms of projection.
On my skin, it usually lasts around 9 hours, which is perfect for a school day, a day at work, or just lounging around in your house. Would definitely recommend to Freshman/Business men.

    Age Group:

I'd say from the age of 15 up; it's a more masculine and powerful scent, one that is elegant too.

    The smell:

It opens up with woods and spices with a nice touch of lavender essence, it then drys itself down to a nice cardamom/citrus/spice, at the end of the fragrance I'm left with patchouli and musk. An absolutely gorgeous drydown, to die for! Definitely a must try.

    Conclusion:

I'd recommend this to everyone! It's amazing and I will definitely be looking for another bottle for the future. I can't get enough of this stuff. I've not come cross anyone who hasn't enjoyed it yet, I think that says a lot - I think it's definitely worth a blindbuy if you can't get hold of it, either that or get a decent! Thanks guys!

    9/10

Hope you all enjoyed my first review, I tried

I also like it. Lancme is so neglected and
    underrated within this community!

You should check out Miracle Homme, too.
HH is good, but, to me, MH is a tad better.

I hear its a bit of a lavender bomb?? Can you confirm? I saw it at a dooty free in alaska and they wanted 89 bux for the small bottle so I passed. But If its anything like Labender Palm by Tom Ford in terms of the amount of lavender I would not be impressed at all.

Not a lavender bomb, but you can vaguely smell it!

Very underrated fragrance. Does anyone else get a Reflection Man feel from this?

It is a subtle version of a Rochas Man type frag. It will be too weak for some but I doubt many would find it too strong (assuming one spray to the chest).

    I completely agree with this.

Lancome Hypnose Homme is a scent that should get a bit more attention, not just here.

Used to love wearing it, but discovered the "fishy" note that others have mentioned. It's a solid fragrance though.

I remembered it being average in terms of longevity and sillage, but yesterday i wore it at home and could easily smell it this morning and i felt it quite potent. It's a kind of smell i can get easily tired of, but nice to wear from time to time.
... And do me a favor - don't disturb my friend. He's dead tired.

I never thought once about it being in the Rochas Zone and still after you brought it to my attention i still dont think that....I like HH a lot and didnt care for Rochas and think its a bit overrated IMO
I have had some Niche lovers like this scent as well....Good stuff.

It's more of a Versace Dreamer type of fragrance minus tobacco note.

Yeah, I'm surprised anyone would say this has poor sillage. Your noses could be fatigued as this is a very heavy fragrance, such that I feel like I ended up tiring of it within a few months because it was just too potent. I probably should have worn it more sparingly. I'll have to revisit it. But overall my experience was similar to yours.
    Winter Rotation:

Thierry Mulger A*Men Taste of Fragrance
Calvin Klein Euphoria Intense for Men
    Iceberg The Fragrance for Men
    Byredo Black Saffron
    John Varvatos Original
    Dior Homme Intense
    Versace Man

If smelling good was a crime, I'd be serving a lifetime sentence....

I found very weak sillage too. I guess will need to give it a full wear tomorrow to see how it performs. It would be a cold day tomorrow so will do a nice job if lasts long.

    4 sprays.

    I bought blind 2 * 50ml bottles and haven't used any. lol

I like it a lot, and it's a good all year rounder. I used it in summer and it works really well.
Plus, the bottle is a knock-off!

Hmm. I use to love this one in the spring & summer, but for some reason, I don't like it that much on my skin anymore. I have about 1/3 of a 50 ml bottle left, and am actually about to try to get rid of it, along with a few other frags I don't wear. Trying to swap them for some things I do like.

I tested this couple of days ago, and I think it’s very nice! I'm very surprised how under the radar this scent is. Quite unique!

Its probably under the radar because it has been dicontinued. Or at least it isnt available in the states. People should be aware though that fakes of this now exist. I got a fake inthe 2.5 size a week or two ago.

Curious - how were you able to determine that it was a fake? What gave it away?

I was able to get close up pics of the real hypnose box and bottle. I am in the guitar and knife hobby and we get a lot of fakes in both arenas. As such I have become almost a sort of detective and have had to authenticate many items in both hobbies. I applied my "skills" if you could call them that and went to town. I asked if anyone had seen fakes because its a long process examining something for so long to spot the differences. But here is kinda the laundry list of issues.

    1. The hypnose logos that are ghosted into the finish were way out of place. They logos wrap around the box in a unique way and it is the same on every legit box. My logos were considerably off.

    2. The actual silver lancome logo font was completely incorrect. My logo is fat almost like bubble letters without the very fine taper of the true lancome logo. The font is close but the areas of the lancome logo that thin out mine remain fat. And the ^ shaped mark over the O was the improper size and thickness.

    3. The wrap looked identical to the genuine lancome in the way that the box was wrapped. I remember when we were discussing it in my thread about it that it may have been rewrapped. But it wasn't shrink wrapped like many re wraps. Time and care was taken to make it look like how lancome wraps its boxes. But underneath that wrap the box was scratche up and very poor quality. The logos on the real lancome appear to be embossed so that the letters are raised or maybe impressed. My logos are silver but they have no depth to them as they are just printed. The box itself is very poorly printed. The cardboard is white and dyed. You can rub the color off the box with your finger if you rub on it.

    4. The sticker on the bottom of the bottle while having a matching batch number had a spelling error. Instead of saying "made in france" It says made in "FRANCI" and its wasn't cut off.

    5. The quality of everything was not right. At first I thought maybe it was just a old bottle that had been sitting on a shelf but the glass the bottle was made of was actually cloudy. Not scratched. After windexing the living hell out of it and getting all the grime that was stuck to it the actual glass itself was not clear. The color of the juice was not the amber color but literally the color of urine.

    6. All of the writing on the box was very very light. Almost unreadable. It almost looked as if they made my box by photocopying an original one and simply using an inkjet printer to color it. All writing whether letters or numbers were very "fuzzy" with no sharp detail.

    7. The smell. It was faintly reminiscent of hypnose but only very faintly. And 2 minutes after application the fragrance dried down to a completely generic "cologne" smell so many fakes tend to have. Its almost as if they toss a few similar notes of the original into a generic base. The top being the only thing resembling the fragrance it is counterfeiting.

    8. All the caps of hypnose seem to have a very nice looking logo. My logo is actuall a metal plaque that was painted black and then the logo looks to have been sanded into the top and parts of the black are wearing away as if they just have a bin of these things rubbing together.

    9. Bottle does not seem to flair out as much on the bottom as the cap does. Simply doesn't seem like the same shape.

    10. the cap itself was very poorly made. The whole chamfered edge of the cap has "chattering". Almost as if they forgot to make the cap with the chamfered edge and they used a cheap method of cutting the chamfer that left that edge very rough and uneven.

The main thing was the logos on the box. But after seeing that literally every single detail of the item was off, and I could not find any pictures of anyone elses having my issues I was left with only one conclusion. Then I when looking back at the persons feedback on ebay they have quite a few instances of people leaving negative feedback for fakes. Most of they hypnose for women. And a variety of lancome. Shortly after getting my money back they pulled all their auctions and have not been back since. I still have the box and bottle. But I know some don't like it when people publically post photos seeing it can lead to research on how to better make a fake. But if you would like to see it I can take some pics and send them to you privately. Just send me a message with an email to send them to. This goes for anyone who is a standing member of the forum for more than 1 month and more than 50 posts.
