Default A*Men - Who can pull it off?

i really want to give this powerhouse from the 90's a try. First time and only i used it i almost choked everyone in the bus i was in lol and got kinda embarassed and since then i've never used it, it was a hot summer night maybe that didnt help either.

anyway who can you imagine wearing this? you must be prepared for praises and criticism, from what i've read here there's not much love for this baby, but it seems chicks seem to dig this.

    what are your experiences?

    thanks

Its too cloying for my but appears to be popular with the younger crowd. How many sprays did you apply? lol one spray is enough for me.

can it be a signature scent or it mostly a winter scent?

Yeah I bought a bottle and regret it, sits on my shelf unused, it's too cloying as mentioned, the tar note is off putting and I find myself constantly reaching for Play Intense or Michael Jordan Legend if I have an inkling for a gourmand instead. I think it had its heyday but bottom line, it's too aggressive to be wearable.

I wear it in the evenings sometimes. It's better in cooler weather - can be a bit much in the heat. I usually wear about 3 sprays. I like the tar note - that's what makes it interesting.

Hot summer night? That was your problem. Save it for the cooler weather - and go easy - A*Men is a projection and longevity beast - no need to be heavy on the sprayer. If overdone, you will smell like a freshly asphalted parking lot. If you go easy, it is quite pleasant.
However, since purchasing the various A*Men flankers, I don't find myself wearing the original very much. I find Pure Malt and Pure Havane much more wearable, and even better than the original.

is it ok for clubbing if not overspraying?

I wear it as a comfort scent at the moment, and plan on wearing it as a daily one in the fall. The trick for me is one, MAYBE two sprays, from about twice the usual distance. The scent is less overpowering if it disperses a bit.

I think it is better suited for winter. I think anyone can pull it off as long as they have the confidence to wear this brash unapologetic scent.
The hunt for a Signature Fragrance is not an easy one! I see the light at the end of the tunnel! Edit: 2015... I've given up and given in

If you're gonna wear it in the summer just go for one spray on the neck. Ask an honest opinion of those close to you if it's too strong. If so then just go for one spray on your chest under your shirt. I've heard alot of good stories on here of people who do this in the summer and get great results and compliments.

As long as it's not summer and you don't over apply I've never found this difficult to pull off.

I could wear 8 sprays in the winter...it could either be my naturally dry skin (even when wearing lotion) or the reformulated version is weak, maybe both?
It should be illegal to smell this good!

I don't really find A*Men all that controversial or difficult to wear. They must have really mellowed out the tar note in the reformulation because I don't smell it at all. It just comes across as rich chocolate and patchouli to me.

Just wait for cooler weather, go very easy on the sprayer and you will be fine.

I typically don't wear it when there's triple digit heat, but otherwise I wear it whenevs and I roll with impunity.

One spray to the chest and one on each side of my neck and I'm enveloped in chocolate/tar for 12 hours. Wore it to work in a pretty confined space and did not choke my coworker out- which is amazing considering its power and its legendary projection.

I could imagine myself wearing this, since I wear gourmands on a regular basis, I just don't want to since I am not interested.

I can't stand it as it gives me a headache.

I don't know anyone who wears the men's version, but there's a girl in our office that must think it's great to wear like half a bottle of Angel. Everything in a 5 mile radius around her smells and tastes and chocolate. She's actually going to get avoided a LOT....

Anybody who wants to smell like a walking chocolate pudding.

I mainly get the urge in colder weather, so winter, autumn, spring and summer in the UK.
