    Default Art glass perfume bottles

Is anyone into signed art glass perfume bottles here? I've never noticed a thread addressing it.

My fascination with these beautiful hand-blown creations began long before I cared so much about the perfumes. (I'm now embarrassed to say!) They're such incredible works of art & I have a whole collection of them.

Do you have any pictures available?.

Now that you have a love for both the art bottles and fragrance, do you ever decant fragrance into your lovely bottles, or are they strictly for your collection?

Hi, jbthorpe! I had completely forgotten about this thread! I would be glad to follow up with some pictures, if anyone has an interest.

To answer your question, the bottles are strictly for display as art pieces. I'm sure that many people use them functionally, but the stoppers are not airtight & the scents would also degrade from light exposure. So I have two very enjoyable, but separate passions!

Here are just a few I grabbed this morning. They are all hand-blown & signature etched by the artist.

If I wasn't so lazy I would have taken them outside for the photos, instead of using my kitchen counter! It's hard to see the detail & iridescence.

My trigger finger has hovered over 'buy it now' many times. I have resisted, primarily because I've never found them to be functional, for the reason given above. As I have a collection of vintage, I cannot risk my perfumes deteriorating, since many of them are near irreplaceable. Having said that, these things are truly beautiful works of art and some of them are nothing short of sublime. I would certainly welcome a thread that showed off anyone's collection.

Oh gosh, sorry for the late reply Kumquat!

I do have a few new bottles this year & also ousted a couple of the more common ones to make room. My display case runneth over! A favorite is a bottle by Smyers that has gold banding & a hummingbird on the stopper! Gaw-geous! I'll try to get a few pics up this weekend.

What did you ever find out about your malachite bottle? That one's quite a stunner.

I still don't know if my bottle is worth a small fortune. One of these days I will have to have a proper appraisal done on my collection. One thing is, the bulb and tassel is definitely old which makes me think it is really old.

If you are struggling with loading pictures- try Tinypics. I have good luck with them.
