Default Blind buy - Creed Millesime Imperial vs Tom Ford Grey Vetiver

I never smelled any of them and am aware of possible batch variations of Creed.
    Anyway?

    1. Which one do you like more?
    2. Which is better office wear?
    3. Which is better for summer?
    4. Which is better for dates?
    5. Which is better blind buy for me?

I am thinking about getting small 30ml bottle of MI (60 euros) or big 100 ml bottle of GV (76 euros).

Also, is MI similiar in style with Acqua Di Gio or it is completely different style?
Is there more vetiver than citrus in Grey Vetiver?

I like both but GV just seems dull compared to the glorious MI with it's lush melon on a seabreeze fragrance. So my vote goes to MI to fit all of the above. And ADG is very different to MI.

MI is the superior fragrance, although with that said I'd still choose Green Irish Tweed over it.

I think the contest is a no brainer. MI any day over GV. The latter is a poorly done 'modern' take on Guerlain's Vetiver (which is still popular today!), as with 4711 and TF's Neroli.

MI fits the bill 100% for what you want. Just make sure you get a 2011 batch or more recent. I'd also advice you invest in a slightly larger bottle as the 30ml will go quickly. It's an addictive, fruity scent with a great sea breeze vibe to it that simply can't offend anyone. Sheer class.

MI is one of the best summer fragrances ever created in my opinion. It's one of the few fragrances that I sprayed and wore to death because it smells so good. MI can be worn anywhere at anytime. Grey Vetiver is a solid fragrance, but it's more of a formal or work fragrance.

It is a little bit like it, in that sense that it is safe and fresh but that's it. Right off the bat, you can tell MI uses nothing but the highest quality ingredients while AdG is more synthetic.

In my opinion AdG is very good, but MI is GREAT!

I already have Encre Noire and sample of Sycomore and like them both but I was looking for more wearable and fresh vetiver and from FWIR Grey Vetiver should fit the bill, but now it seems like its boring shi**y fragrance.

I choose TF vet as a blind buy, because if a fragrance does not last it has very little value for me. Constantly reapplying makes the fragrance much more expensive than it appears. Maybe sample the MI on and see if you are comfortable with the longevity you get from it.

Its not really a bad scent, but boring just about describes it to my nose at least. If you are looking for a wearable fresh vetiver with more going on, you may want to check out Coeur de Vetiver Sacre by L'Artisan. It is quite fresh and highly wearable, but it is a heck of a lot more interesting than Grey Vetiver, IMO. Just a word of caution that it is more about the bergamot than vetiver despite its name as the vetiver it uses is quite transparent.

If Vetiver is what you are looking for, take a look at TDC's Sel de Vetiver. It is an extremely fresh Vetiver.

Kron has a split going on this right now at a fantastic price.

Millesime Imperial with batch # A3311U01 is one of the stand-out batches.

Strong, long-lasting top notes of a sweet melon note that sticks around for the entire time. Best of all, I get 8+ hours from it. It's AMAZING

If you like a touch of lemon with your saltwater and bleach, then get MI.

If you want a refined fragrance go with GV.

I like Grey Vetiver quite a bit, but I'm not sure if I could recommend it as a blind buy. I would suggest you try some other vetivers along with this one first before you buy. Ones you would want to try also: Sycomore, Guerlain Vetiver, Hermes Vetiver Tonka, Encre Noir, Cruel Intentions, and Vetiver Oriental...
I think the Tom Ford offering hold up nicely against them all, but you should try them and pick for yourself.
    Seasonal favorites:

    1. Creed - Spice & Wood
    2. Creed - Aventus
    3. Dior - Vetiver
    4. by Kilian - Incense Oud
    5. Puredistance - Black
    6. by Kilian - Cruel Intentions
    7. Armani Privé - Oud Royal

    3. Which is better for summer? MI
    4. Which is better for dates? MI
    5. Which is better blind buy for me? MI

Also, I don't find any resemblance between MI and Acqua di Gio.

Sure there are batch variations with MI and longevity issues, but it's still a standout scent IMO and I would much prefer that over GV.

The only possible issue is that I don't think 30 ml is enough if you're planning on having it as a signature scent. However, it'll at least give you a good test drive and if you like it, you can buy more once you use up the bottle.

I have the U02 also from 2011. I also find it last till the end of the day and is very fruity right from the top through to the heart. I could easily get by with just this fragrance in the summer. Very inoffensive and easily my best Creed right now. All right, maybe along with Aventus

There is a batch out there that smells VERY musty, not musky, smells as if it has gone bad. I know because I ended up with one of those bottles. The good juice does not smell like that.

So be careful Deamer81, if you do plan on buying MI do some batch research first. There have been other threads on here about the musty MI and there are reviews on here that mention it as well.

So I finally pulled trigger and blind bought Millesime Imperial (75 euros for 120ml tester bottle, 2013 batch) and IMO its way better than Grey Vetiver that I already tried couple times and didnt like much (I actually prefer Paul Smith Story which is similiar and also 3x cheaper). To me it smells like cross between Acqua Di Gio and GIT. Very natural smell, fresh, classy, masculine and almost impossible to overspray.
