Fougere Bengale is more daring and challenging to wear.

Arabie is more enjoyable for me.

    I prefer Fougere Bengale

They're both quality scents, but I find Arabie both more complex and also a bit more wearable. Arabie is also much, much spicier, but Fougere Bengale is fruitier and more based around tobacco.

I have both. Very good frags, but would choose FG over Arabie.

Yep, but otherwise, I find it a very nice fragrance, just not really for me.
Arabie is also really nice, but it got much too sweet for me.
It's strange, because both are the kind of orientals that should absolutely rock my boat, yet they don't.

Finally an interesting vs. - sick of DH vs DHI and the like arghgh.
Arabie is much sweeter, and fruitier - the spices much easier to get along with and the whole composition has a syrupy texture.
Fougere Bengale is drier, with prominent tobacco and a pretty literally curried spice in the heart. The lavender is medicinal and resinous up top - whilst they are both spicy fragrances, they are extremely different.
Both are great, but are too different for me to be able to say I prefer one over the other - Arabie is definitely the easier of the two to wear.

I tried FB about five years ago and I can't say I've found a big difference overall ( though I know Arabie is rather lighter and sweeter these days ).

That was a jab at Trebor's "Vintage Arabie" response. You have to understand my humor.

They are very different. Fougere Bengale is my choice, by far. It's infinitely less sweet, but both are "try before you buy" fragrances. FB is a curry/tobacco wonder. Arabie is very sweet fruit and incense.
