Default Fake Fahrenheit? Or just vintage?

Hey, I picked up a 50mL Dior Fahrenheit off eBay and I notice that it didn't have the "petroleum" opening that everybody keeps talking about. I put the code into checkcosmetic and it looks like the code is from 1987, a year before Fahrenheit came out. Should I be worried?

    Here are some pictures

    It looks real.

New, re-formulated Fahrenheit is much, much, much, better than the vintage. That's why you think it's a fake. No petroleum note, see? ;-)

This is real ! it is the vintage fahrenheit , as Spoombung said , RE-formulated fahrenheit is much better but the vintage version is awesome too and maybe the one you got were not well-stocked so that it does not smell good . about the code on checkcosmetic , it might be a Technical error or maybe DIOR made codes while it is still in production in 1987 before it is introduced in 1988. For me the vintage bottle and box design is incredible while the reformulated one is very simple. Keep the bottle and go get a new one from a store . wish i helped you

Your lucky if its the vintage. That gasoline note ruins it. The vintage version is a masterpiece. The new version is horrible.

Seems to be from 1989 rather than from 1987!

I def agree with this........ I am not a fan of the current fahrenheit. Those of us who have worn the vintage and appreciated its beauty know the current is a far cry from its former self

The top notes remind me of citrus, lavender and strangely a chrysanthemum tea-like smell, that is probably the florals. The floral accords stay there and blend with leather for the dry down. That's about all I can smell with my novice nose from a couple of wears... I feel like it's a waste on me now looking at some of the replies above haha.

I can't really see it on that pic, but is the bottle all red or does it blend into orange towards the bottom?

It blends from this dark red to this orange-yellow colour at the bottom... You reminded me that it is reminiscent of the German flag

Thanks! So it seems they have changed to the all red variant in 1998/1999, when they changed the batch code to the four digit system.

Apart from the batch number, there other hints that your bottle is very old: The alcohol content is given on the bottom of the bottle, and the address still is 30 Avenue Hoche instead of 33 Avenue Hoche.
