Default Next purchase: Lonestar Memories or 1740?

I'm torn between both. I have more experience wearing 1740, but Lonestar captivated me when I first tried it in my arm. I know both have their pros and cons.

What do you think of those? Which one would you choose?
... And do me a favor - don't disturb my friend. He's dead tired.

I love both but 1740 gets my vote as the more complex, refined and wearable of the two.

Absolutely agree with this. 1740 would be my choice.

I really like the two and own Lonestar Memories. There was too much immortelle in 1740 otherwise its very nice.

I love and own both. I find 1740 smoother and perhaps of more general use. Lonestar Memories has a scary top (in a good way) so it might be more difficult to wear.

Lonestar Memories by Tauer, for being an evocative, one-of-a-kind composition.

Lonestar Memories. Like Hedonist, I find 1740 too immortelle-heavy. But I also really like LM and think I'll be buying a bottle at some point.

    1740 is more wearable, IMO.

1740 for me too. LM is very nice, but I'm more of a fan of LDDM and Black Tourmaline over it.

1740 is more like a typical heavy scent while LM is unique. Even 1740 is more easy to wear, LM develops much better and deeper imo.

Much prefer 1740. I find the sweetness of the smoke and the linearity of LM gets grating over the course of the day.

    Thanks for your answers...
The inmortelle in 1740 kinda scares me, I like it but I'm afraid I'll be getting tired of it pretty soon. Lonestar has a bizarre combination in its topnotes, but its dry down is quite unique... It's a tough decision...

Maybe sample it a bit longer? Could be you don't want a full bottle of either.

Yes... something I value is that 1740 is a big bottle (a spanish site sells it quite cheap, 103€ for 120ml) and it's split friendly. Lonestar is not

I find Lonestar Memories the most unique of the two, they are both completely wearable, but yeh, LM is my favourite

Before you commit to a full bottle of 1740, make sure you get the pre-reformulated version. You can be sure of that asking if the fragrance comes with an additional travel sprayer. if it does, then it's the newer version which appearantly is no good. The older one don't include the extra srpayer in the box.

On a side note, Nasenmann's suggestion of passing some more time with them before deciding, makes a LOT of sense in your case...

No, it doesn't have any extra sprayer. This store is making a big sale on a lot of products so is probably old stuff. I recently bought Ambre 114 from them and it's the same as my old Casanova bottle, no extra sprayer.

Lonestar all the way. Everytime I smell my wrist eyes close and I take a big whiff. Nothing really smells like it and it goes on forever. It's the type of perfume that keeps coming out of no where to remind you that your still wearing it. If I'm getting huge whiffs of it 8 hours later, I can only imagine what it smells like to others. I've never gotten any comments on it, but I where it for me. Also, I don't think the two can be compared because they don't smell like one another. It's been a while since I tried 1740, but I don't remember it having all that smokey spice that lonestar has. I'll have to break out the 1740 sample again.

Do they ship internationally? I'd be interested in picking up some pre-reform 1740.

Conversely, you might be better off with the reform because it's lighter on the immortelle. Probably worth testing both.

1740 simply because I'd wear it more. Lonestar is a great composition, but not something I'd need a bottle of.

I would go for the 1740. I love the leather and the "prune" note with immortelle.

Lonestar is a great leather, but I could not get past the "chuckwagon" vibe!

Chuckwagon vibe? Lol..I haven't sniffed that one. But Taueraide doesn't fly with me. Sorry, didn't answer the question, lol..but chuckwagon vibe? Interesting, lol. Haven't sniffed Lonestar but have tried the 1740. That does have a strong immortelle note, imo. I don't do Taueraide or immortelle really..I am of no help here, lol. I get leather, immortelle and patchouli, that's pretty much it on 1740. I would actually lean on Lonestar based on the notes, though haven't sniffed it, I am of no help, like I said. Though, if it had the Taueraide..idk. 1740 is really patchy, too patchy for my tastes, at least in this particular scent. I can do patch but the patch in that one is a bit much. Chuckwagon..mmm, I may have to sniff that one, lol.

Lol, just read what Lonestar is about..I think I get the chuckwagon thing. Says it's supposed to be like a horse rider wearing old jeans and a leather jacket? Where is the denim accord though I wonder?
