Default Fougere Royale? What the Hell....

I thought this was gone forever, when I saw it in some cast-off bin at Neiman Marcus. How long has it been available?

Some Nieman Marcus stores apparently still have some stock.

    Luckyscent has it too, apparently.

What did you pay for it?

I was considering purchasing this, but bought a small decant instead. The re-launch FR is certainly composed of high quality ingredients, but it is in the vein of woody aromatics like Safari and Trafalar rather than the true spirit of FR. The original EdC is much different.

The remake came out a couple of years ago - haven't tried it but 'opinions vary'.

With current restrictions I don't see how a convincing update could really be done.

The Highest Concentration of this reissue is really a great fragrance. I have not yet run a side by side with the vintage yet though...

Yes, if anyone happens to stop by the Osmotheque, please do a comparison of the new and old stuff.

I have never smelled the original, but I just want to cite Tania Sanchez who said that the reissue was a practical joke. Perhaps inevitably, as mr reasonable was saying, since two of the three main ingredients, coumarin and oakmoss, are now basically forbidden.

I have a sample of the re-launch and like it quite a bit. I have never smelled the original.

The new one is a great fragrance, I like it a lot! Very high quality ingredients to my nose. I have not smelled the original.

This. I have a review of the vintage on the review page here which compares the two and they really are completely different scents.

I tried the new one and didn't like it much. A bit of a sickly sweetish base. It wasn't at all what I was expecting of a 'classical' fougere.

I really like this and think it smells great even though it does not stick to the classic fougere notes.

fougeres are heavily dependent on oak moss , without them they are nothing.
