So did I - hated it. Until I smelled the perfume version, which is less sweet, deeper, elegant and just classy.

I still don't like the EdC version.

I found the EDP to be really gross and way too dense. The EDT is nice and more interesting than most current designer offerings but not amazing at all.

It stands out because it's different.

I traded a bottle of Grey Vetiver for the TDH Pure Parfum and I think it was a good swap as I've worn TDH more times than I wore GV. It's not even close to being a favorite of mine, but it's ok. I think it's kinda meh considering all the praise it gets.

Its my #1 scent and as close to a "signature" as I have gotten in years. I also, like the OP, couldn't stand it at first. Something was off-putting to me. But later that Fall I started cravingthe woods in it when the weather got colder. Since then its been love. I wear it to work almost daily and it is a professional, classy and sexy scent. I prefer to EDT. The Parfum was almost too smooth if that makes sense. I liked the kick I got out of the EDT and the drydown on my clothes is one of the best out there.

So like me, maybe it will change over time but no big deal of it doesn't. I hate many that are classic on here and have tried to like them or have worn them multiple times to no avail...Guerlain Vetiver among hem.

depends on the day, some days I find myself constantly respraying it wondering how I don't wear it more, other days I feel sad I wasted a wearing on it.

I'm with you on this. Ive tried so many times especially after i read glowing reviews on here but it is just not for me.

Same thing with YSL L'Homme and La Nuit for me.

I went for Cartier Declaration instead, which does work for me and is to be considered 'The Father' of Terre d'Hermes.
+1. I prefer Declaration over TDH. I don`t hate TDH, but I don`t love it eighter.

TdH doesn't stink, it could even be regarded as interesting but no more than 30 seconds: it is soooooooooooooooooooooooo boring ! no evolution, in the purest Elena's style
and the iso E is really headache inducer
maybe the recent reformulation (due to IFRA regulations) will leave something more wearable

The EdT is great scent - but the Pure Parfum is what I prefer...

Iso E Super can be too much for some people - but not for me.

Regardless, I highly respect both for what they are and even a layered wearing of the two is not inappropriate.

    Cheers.

Buy a bottle of Yardley's Citrus and Woods. It's a great alternative to TdH and for those that can't handle or smell the ISO E Super.

I just put a tiny amount on my ankle. I can see the appeal of this fragrance, though it's far from my preference zone. There is some aspect to it that does seem to be giving me a headache, and I'm not smelling it close up either. If there was more complexity and it didn't give me a headache I'd give it another chance, but of course then it would be an entirely different frag! LOL.

+1. Terre d'Hermes is like a noisy neighbor: loud, obnoxious and headache-inducing.

It's one of my favorite JCE creations. Top notch materials and very elegant, masculine sillage. I wear two sprays of it and the sillage is just right. Incidentally, according to JCE himself, there are no musks of any kind in this fragrance.

Terre d' Hermes is a very sophisticated fragrance, but I have never been able to wear it myself. It is strange because I really like vetiver and woods, but not TdH.

Good to know. It must be a huge amount of iso e super then.

I dislike it. It is odd on me, I smell it in 2 different possible ways, either a slightly dirty Orange smell, or a dissonant brew of chemicals and used matches. And I never have any idea which I'm going to get until its too late and it's on my skin.

So it's either just OK, or a total scrubber. Hence dislike.

I disliked it when I first tried it, sampled it again and warmed up to it, 3rd time I sampled it I had to have it. Bought it, seldom wore it and then finally traded it.

In my opinionits a straight forward orange frag with a twist of bengay. Very manly but not for me.
