Damn you, persianprince! Now I'll have to try it...
Hey guys, just curious to know who on BN owns this or has tried it? I received a couple ML of this from a fellow BNer and it is extremely unique and probably one of the purest rose notes i've smelled to date, just smells so much like a real rose. Do you think this one justifies the price tag, as it is a city exclusive so its up.
One thing i'm not sure about is the projection, it appears to last quite a while but its been hard to guage since the scent is apears to be light, but in a transparent way if that makes sense, but i have not had a chance to really test it much and saving this small portion i have.
Let me know what you guys think, where does this rank for you compared to other rose frags?
Right now my rose gems are MFK LNPH, Noir de Noir, Lyric and Rose 31
I'm on a serious rose kick and can't get enough of it!
Damn you, persianprince! Now I'll have to try it...
This is more of a pure rose scent, compared to Rose31. There are no wood , spices or cumin, which to my nose are more in the forefront than then rose. I'm not good at describing scents, so here is a youtube reviewer who owns this and is a big fan of le labo house
hopefully this helps
I've been on a rose kick for the last six months and feel that Baie Rose is my personal "best in rose" scent. This is after trying 20+ different roses. I will say that FMEDP Portrait of a Lady is a close second (and is completely unisex despite the name). I find projection on Baie Rose to remain close for the most part which I prefer. Longevity is great - at least 8 plus hours on skin. On fabric it goes forever, I accidentally got a bit on a sweatshirt sleeve and could clearly smell it there a week later. A couple of surprises for me while exploring rose scents were Iquitos and Azzaro Acteur. I had heard Acteur compared to Lyric Man and can see the comparison. Acteur I find more "masculine" and it's much less expensive, $30-$40 for a 100ml bottle, worth trying.
Check out the split board on base notes for this one. It's also possible to get smaller amounts from a split posted on Facebook fragrance friends. Both locations offer the whole Le Labo line including all city exclusives. Prices on both are the best you'll find.
I think i'm going to use the amount of B26 i have left and give it a full wearing today, the close to skin projection you mentioned could be a deal breaker for me.
quick update, i'm giving this a full wearing and the scent itself is gorgous, however, it's a quiet one as far as projection goes, i'm having difficulty detecting it but when i sniff closer to the skin i can smell clearly, just doesn't project much. I can tell the longevity is going to be pretty good on this one, but dam shame it's not a bit louder! Especially for this price tag....
Have a 10ml decant of this on the way As well as signed up on the current split giong on here at BN. Amazing scent that i keep craving for more!
Yup, I'm signed up for a split as well Can't wait!
Does anyone else have any trouble detecting this one throughout the course of the day? I'm not sure if its just a transparent type of smell that its very light or if i'm just fatigue by the scent and there it somethign in there that i am asnomic too. This one is suppose to 30% oil, making its it a extract i believe, so i would expect it to be stronger. Poirve23 is a beast on my skin and its made with 30% as well.
First few times I tried this, as well as Poirve 23 & Gaiac 10, I had the same experience. I now feel BR26 is one of the strongest scents I own. I'm always aware it's there, sometimes 12+ hours later. I think my initial experience with these were two fold; someone told me it takes a few weeks after mixing before Le Labo's get to full strength and they were my first experience with ambroxen, which I believe is the musk used in all three. I've heard a lot of people have asnomic issues with musks. Thankfully my nose seems to have adjusted.
Question Rnovak...how many sprays do you go with this one and where do you spray?
Awesome, I need to try this. Thanks for the input
Sorry for the late reply, persianprince. I usually do one to the chest, one to the back of the neck, and one to the inner crook of each arm. Go hard or go home.
It is one of my biggest regrets not picking this up last year when it was available to all . It is the star in the le labo crown , I can't tell you enough how much I love Baie rose , sensational stuff , a joy . Agree that it's not a projection monster yet has great longevity , it just seems to hover aura like .... Sigh , I think its love
It's official, i am asnomic to something in this scent. I really losing track of it pretty quick and was under the impression it wasn't there. Well lets just say i wore this to work today and i had 3 compliments, each one at different times of the day. One could smell me from roughly 10 feet away. I wore 3 totaly sprays, one to chest, back of the neck and one to wrist, which i like to do so i can smell the fragrance throughout the day. Kind of sucks that i love the scent so much, but after hour 1 or so i don't really smell it on me but others sure do.
I am going to continue playing around with the application and hopefully this changes for me. Hands down the best rose based scent i have smelled to date....nothing has come close to this, except Lumnior Noeire
Maybe skip the spray to the chest and see what happens. I've heard others say a strong fragrance can overwhelm your nose to the point you no longer smell it. Maybe sticking with back of neck and wrist will help. Like I said, I had the same issue at first but seem to have overcome it.
Did you happen to try the Azzaro Acteur? Just wondered what your opinion was.
Baie is the most natural smelling of them all and so sexy, i just wish my nose didn't block it out so easily. I 'll try going 2 sprays next time, see if less is more with this one.
Im wearing my decant for the first time today and i must say that its my favorite Le Labo, with Rose 31.
Its simply delicious, macerated red roses + red peppercorns + cloves. Its very reddish indeed, if a fragrance should have a color, this must be red.
At the first minutes (30 or so) it was very strong, and now it settled down nicely, with moderated projection.
Ive read anywhere that some exclusives are Parfum, and this must be one of them, as it wears like a Parfum (moderated with monster longevity and high end raw materials)
Anyone can confirm?
suprise there isnt more talk about this one...have't worn in in months and pulled it out today and can't believe i've neglected it for so long...gorgous stuff
Albeit Baie Rose 26 by Le Labo is a wondrous fragrance, I am not quite sure it justifies the exorbitant price.
I was talking about myself, I needed the bottle for some reason.
Yes, i agree the price is way too high, but that is why i went iwth a 50ml decant from a BN splitter for much more reasonable price. It's my favorite Le labo hands down.
