Default Profumi del Forte - Versilia Vintage Ambra Mediterranea

I really enjoy Amber perfumes and have been thinking about adding Vintage Ambra Mediterranea to my collection.

Would enjoy hearing your thoughts on this.

It is one of the best amber scents on the market, IMO. A couple others you may want to also look at are Les Nombres d'Or Ambre by Mona di Orio and Ambre 114 by HdP.
    Current Top Favorites:
    1) Portrait of a Lady original formula (EdP Frédéric Malle)
    2) Giorgio for Men vintage/V.I.P. for Men (Giorgio Beverly Hills)
    3) Dia Man vintage edt (Amouage)
    4)
Anat Fritz Original Formula and Classical (Anat Fritz) - tie
    4) Lalfeorosa (O'driù) - tie

    6)
Les Nombres d'Or Vetyver (Mona di Orio)
    7) Captain vintage (Molyneux)
    8) Tzora (Anat Fritz)
    9) Javanese Patchouli (Zegna) - tie
    9) Monsieur de Givenchy vintage (Givenchy) - tie
    9) Coeur de Vetiver Sacré (L'Artisan) - tie
    9) X for Men (Clive Christian) - tie
    9) Patou pour Homme Privé (Jean Patou) - tie
    9) Oud Shamash (The Different Company) - tie

Have Ambre 114. How would you compare MdO to PdF Ambre?

Ambre Mediterranea is an excellent amber-centric fragrance. It miraculously manages to embody a variety of different facets of classic amber scents into one creation. It leans more in the direction of Ambre Sultan the most, with a rich amber/incense, without the herbal edge. Slightly more "compact", "crisp" and "clean" compared to AS. I'm still weighing up buying it myself

I have never tried the two side by side, but my guess is if you own Ambre 114 and also like PdF Ambre it too will be up your alley. I personally like it the best of the three, but only by a hair as they are all superb, IMO. I have reviews on this site of all three for reference.

drseid, would you consider it redundant to have both HdP and PdF?

One of my favorite Amber! Thick, bombastic with a creme brulee kind of quality. In order to properly like it, you have to be fine with some synthetics though...

I have HdP, but I'd give the edge to AM, since it has a more body and intensity. Different enough to warrant owning both IMO.

They are different enough, IMO and both easily worth owning.

Versilia Vintage Ambra Mediterranea - my reference amber. It is very lush, rich and high quality.

If you like amber very much then its not redundant to own the two. Its only redundant if you don't enjoy amber very much and are generally happy with having one-size-fits-all type of amber perfume to round out your wardrobe.

    for swap/sale:

I am enjoying amber frags and VV is an outstanding scent amongst them, deep, rich, creamy, strong!

    Bump

I have been wearing this today and could not help compare it to Ambre 114. With Ambre Mediterranea I get a big dose of woods followed by the Ambre and then joined by a dose of Frankincense. After a while a citrus orange joins the mix but just slightly. As time goes by the ambre gets slightly sweeter but the woody presence is still strong. So for me the experience has been a interplay mainly of woods and ambre.

It's very nice and restrained with the ambre held strictly in check by the good dose of woods. I like it but much prefer Ambre 114 and here's why. The Ambre is imo smoother and the rose floral note that blooms out of the mix is divine and the wood note does not smother the amber like in AM but lies underneath it complementing it. So you get a creamy amber with a floral rose note and a resinous wood sitting underneath the amber.

Jack, from your description of Ambre 114 you peaked my interest. I will need check this fragrance out. Actually I will check out both Ambre 114 and AM.

I'm very curious about the Versilia Vintage Ambra Mediterranea now. I tried Ambre Sultan and Ambra Russ, as well as Atelier's Ambre Nue which has a lovely orange element to it. Must see if I can find a sample of Ambra Mediterranea from somewhere...

IMO Ambre 114 is much better.

Ambra Mediterranea is by far the best Amber I have smelled. If I put it next to Ambre 114 it blows it away...and I love 114!

I have discovered that Amber is not really for me. I have tested several, and in the beginning it was interesting, but after a while I don’t enjoy the smell so much. Ambra Mediterranea is a full Amber, no doubt about that. Amber lovers should really check it out.

I was at work today at school wearing Ambra Mediterranea, when a sixteen year old student came to my office. What is that smell she asked, sniffing the air. It smells like a church. Well, it’s probably my perfume I replied. I am just testing it today I said. Funny she should associate Ambra Mediterranea with church. I wonder why that is. I have not been to many churches, so I would not know.

This is the absolute best amber ive tried. As said above it's thick and has a lot of depth. Just great stuff.

I love ambers, and this one in particular, but I don't find any of them wearable in a work environment. Nights out and weekends.

I like it but it's not my favorite amber based scent.

I really enjoy Ambra Mediterranea - it's very rich, complex, heavy even, and with unbelievable longevity and stellar projection. You have to go VERY light on the trigger with this one, so I expect my bottle to last me years and years. Good stuff - one of the best ambers, IMO.
