Thread: Your favorite vetiver? |
I'm a total vetiver freak, it's my favorite note and I'm crazy about vetiver-heavy things and vetiver soliflores. I'm really curious to see which vetiver-centered frags you guys prefer these days.
I cannot just pick one and have to split my own vote - it goes to smoky classy Sycomore and fierce rooty Route du Vétiver. But which vetiver frag is your favorite? Vetiver is vast territory - maybe I didn't even list it?

Original Vetiver - And thats because the vetiver takes the back seat and is not in your face, and thats how I like it.
Timbuktu and Sycomore
Only have tried the Guerlain, Lalique and Tom Ford ones. Out of these, Guerlain's wins.
Vote goes to Givenchy.
Also own and enjoy Original Vetiver, Sycomore, Fat Electrician, Molinard Vetyver.
Of the ones I have tried...Dior Vetiver and Givenchy Vetyver
Another for Givenchy, and I also like Sycomore, Vetiver Extraordinaire, Grey Vetiver, Vetiver Tonka ...... and the rest are ok too![]()
...Sycomore...!
You're right, it's not listed. Lubin's Le Vetyver
Voted Givenchy Vetyver and Other (for Bois 1920's Vetiver Ambrato).
I now realise i like vetiver in two ways: Straight-up sometimes, and as a main note with other dominant notes other times. the Givenchy was my first vetiver ever and favourite straight-up vet.
ointments and perfume delight the heart....
#BBOG!
You missed the best: Molinard Vetyver - a bit dirty but pure, sheer vetiver...
Creed Original Vetiver
Sycomore and Vétiver Extraordinaire.
My favourite isn't there - Original Vetiver. Bright, crisp, clean, sharp, fresh. Not in the least bit earthy or stanky. Very wearable.
Vetyver by Carlo Corinto
Every Vetiver I own is my favorite. If I don't own it, then I ether have not tried it yet or did not like it.
Creed Original Vetiver.
TDC Sel de Vetiver
Atelier Vetiver Fatal
Heely Sel Marin
Chanel Sycomore
Malle Vetiver Extraordinaire
Hermes Vetiver Tonka
Waiting on LesNez Vetiver Turtle Front to arrive.
My favourit is Sycomore, I love how vetiver smell so smoky and classy, but I have not tried all the scent listed yet.

Creed Original Vetiver
There's no way I could pick from that list...my most recent acquisition Turtle Vetiver Front certainly ranks up there is a big way, as does MdO Vetyver...but then there's Dior's which is super nice and one that brought about my love for vetiver in general. Vetiver Tonka...Sycomore...ugh
It's probably a tie between Turtle and Vetyver though.
So would you say Sycomore is particularly feminine? What notes are responsible for Chanel marketing as a feminine fragrance?

Vetiver Extraordinaire is the best vetiver I have tried
For me, Givenchy. By miles.
Snarky is as snarky does.
That's a great list. I love several of them, but when push came to shove, I had to go with Lorenzo Villoresi.
From this list: the ones by Guerlain and Etro, further faves of mine not listed here: Creed OV, Chpard Noble Vetiver, Lanvin Vetiver, cheapie evergreen Vetiver Carven, plus the discontinued Eau de Vetiver by Yves Rocher and... the vetiver notes in Mugler Cologne.
Creed's Original Vetiver then Creed's 1948 Vetiver in that order...I just ordered a sample of Mona D'Orio Vetiver frag and am hoping I will enjoy that one too...
