Default Bogart Story Red and Story Blue initial impressions

I received a sample of each today, and thought I would put up some quick initial impressions as I have seen some posts asking about them. I'm new to note description, but I'll do my best.

First for story red. There's a mint, with light citrus. Strong vanilla, possibly tonka. It is pretty sweet. The first thing that came to mind when I smelled it was that it was like my Le Male but, sort of different. I haven't worn it yet, but I really like it.

For Story Blue. Strong initial citrus and pine?, floral-ish lavender maybe. Cedar/Woods. Opening is harsh/sharp. Pretty spicy. It is pretty good, going to have to wear it before deciding if it is a must buy. This one is sort of similar to my Cubano Copper, but only sort of. I got the Copper as a gift, and wasn't a huge fan, but I can say that I prefer Story Blue to the Copper hands down.

Hope this helps those of you that were curious. I don't have either of the Jacomo frags so I can't say how similar they are, but based on the descriptions in the reviews of the Jacomo frags, they might be one and the same, but I'd rather have someone who owns both or has smelled both weigh in on that side of things.

I had Jacomo Rouge in the past and it indeed was very similar to Le Male, with some licorice added, is that the case?
If yes, they are the same...What a confusion!!!!

    My Story Blue arrived yesterday.
I own Bogart PH and Furyo so hearing the words "blue" and "aquatic" from this (power)house had me worried.
Story Blue is a very subtle scent. None of the usual harsh opening.
Instead there is a subtle Grapefruit and Cedar/Musk vibe going on.
The projection is alright as expected but this sort of slithers through the air rather than exploding (BPH).
UPDATE: Wear it in the hot weather. It's quite nice.
There is a really nice sweet, "ocean note" that comes through. It's probably synthetic but its not like those jarring metallic ocean notes that are commonly seen
Would like to see the official notes in this so I know what I'm smelling. Anyone?

i assumed they'd be exactly the same as jacomo deep nblue and Jacomo Red but they weren't. they were both more contemporary and less abrasive by comparison.

Bogart Story red actually wasn't that bad, relatively speaking.

I have been interested in these two and thinking about ordering samples as well.

Where would I go if I wanted a sample of Story Red?

Why are these not documented in the directory? I bought them blind on sample cards online, red and blue in a mini spray both on a card for about a buck and a half each. Barely tried one and forgot if I liked, would be nice to see a good review. I'm too new for that but learning quick!

Tried both and didn't care about them. Both seemed bland, uninspiring and not worthy the tradition of this brand. I remember Red being a dilluted version of dunhill Desire.

Both of these are pretty boring. I found the red one the more interesting of the two though. I acquired the double sample back for very cheap, and ended up selling them with a huge lot of samples. The blue was just a mess of an aquatic, all over the place, too "caloney".

I'm usually open to trying everything, those of you who know me closely know this, but these were both just a mess. Save your money, don't even waste a buck on sampling them, they suck!
    My Ultimate Top 5:

    Fahrenheit (1988)
    Paul Smith Man (2009)
    Burberry London (2006)
    Prada Amber pour Homme (2006)
    Arpege pour Homme (2005)

Have you gotten a chance to try Story Green yet?

Good to know, thanks for the replies. Kinda what I though, not worth the few bucks. After reading much here last night, I need to tone down and buying synthetics and just thrown down on some standbys. I'm thinking Aventus and GIT should be my next purchases, or maybe Tom Ford Tobacco or the other one Noir I think.
