Default Being told a certain fragrance 'suits you'

How often has this happened to you, and what fragrance was that? I've had several comments on different fragrances calling them nice and whatnot, but yesterday was the first time I was told that a scent 'suited' me. And that scent was Tom Ford's Oud Wood, of all things. I guess I suit dense, oudy woods!

So yeah, have you been told lately that a scent suited you? What was it?

Received the same comment this morning from a female friend. Scent in question... Oud Wood. Funny world.

It happens to me mostly regarding classic scents, like e.g. Habit Rouge or Versace l'Homme, mostly because I actually do tend to project a more conservative, reserved, unassuming image in society. And while this claim is largely correct, it one reflects one part of my personality, my tastes, my style etc., not taking into account the moments when I also enjoy to wear the opposite of classic scent and still think it suits me.

I was once told that Annick Goutal's Myrrhe Ardente with its greenness really suited me. That is the only time ever, usually its oh that is lovely or what is that you are wearing.

The only fragrance about which I have received that specific comment was Maria Candida Gentile's 'Exultat'. I did not entirely agree with that assessment, but do occasionally find this composition pleasant to wear.

My wife said the same about Green Irish Tweed

I've never been told a certain frag suits me, however it seems that women really, really, really, love Cool Water on me.

No, they like "fresh country air" and soap.

I'm surprised Mugler Cologne isn't more popular...

My wife won't let me get anything that she doesn't think "suits" me, so by that I guess that more serious frags don't suit me.

I never get comments on my frag. Here in the US, comments could also be a way to express social disapproval. So here a comment like that could mean many things, from the literal interpretation of
I wouldn't wear this myself, but it smells interesting and it fits a man.
You are a solid, serious man and this dark, masculine scent fits you.

To less literal interpretations such as:
I dislike the scent but I want to find something nice to tell you.
I think you are very handsome, but it is not socially acceptable to say so, so I shall compliment you on your sexy perfume.
I am used to shrill hospital cleaners, you stink and disturb me so don't wear this anymore and go back to aquatics.
If I can smell your perfume, you have too much.

Nobody ever told me that but I think the drydown of GIT smells like how my body odour is supposed to smell ;-)
