Default some thoughts about dior homme intense

    Hi,

so, my friend wanted me to recommend him on a good night out/date fragrance
so we went to thestore and i introduced him to some highlights.. like DHI,angel men, d&g the one,1 million, john varvatos,etc...
he sprayed 1 spray of "the one" on one hand, and another of DHI (new formula) on the other hand..
and i sprayed also DHI on my hand - but just before we went out of the store.
so - he had more of that "cocoa-vanilla" bomb on his hand, and i had more of the "lipstick" note.

we asked 6 random girls at the mall to rate the fragrances (aged 18-27).. 5 of them said "the one" without even thinking for a moment!
just 1 girl preferred DHI - the other girls said DHI smells too strong and feminine and 1 girl even said "it smells like my lips after i drink coffee" (wtf?)
by the way.. i live in Israel.
well, 6 girls aren't a lot but 5-1.. and i thought DHI is highly rated than "the one"..
maybe it's different from country to country?
or just the new formulation is really that bad and different from the old one?
    what do you think?

I prefer the vintage formulation of DHI though if I was to only wear frags that girls liked I would be wearing god forbid one million and crappy scents of the same ilk. Thank god for basenotes!

i was surprised because judging on youtube reviews - it seemed that girls really liked this scent.. so maybe it's just in my country?
    he didn't like DHI either.
but i do like DHI and i think it's special and diverse..
although i have to admit i like d&g the one more...

Most people are rating it on their personal enjoyment. There is no question to me which I enjoy more, DHI no hesitation, but then again I think The One is pretty terrible.

If you can get your hands on DHI's vintage formula you would know that it is the best choice without a doubt. Trust me on that bro!

Well it all depends on the 'girls,' I guess. But, one does not wear fragrance only to please 'girls.' I would much prefer to enjoy the fragrance myself and if I wish to impress anyone, that person would more than likely be a woman, not really a 'girl.' Both are great scents but I would not spend money on The One. It has such poor silage and projection, it simply is not worth investing into.

I'd take DHI over The One anytime regardless of random opinions.

Try and get 100 opinions. I'm curious about DHI's popularity with the average Israeli mall chick.

D&G is one of the best smelling scents IMO. DHI is unique and lasts forever. I have the April 2011 batch

DHI does have that hot chocolate vibe in its dry down stage, which most likely made that girl think of mocha or caramel coffee. It can become too sweet, especially with body heat; that's why I prefer Dior Homme EDT over it.

I'm also a big fan of The One and own a bottle of it. On my skin, it develops very well in 3 different stages, and it also lasts 8+ hours (by doing close sprays to my skin) both in the warm and cold seasons.

that lipstick comment she made, if you dont like those comments do not try to track down the vintage. its almost an old wives tale on basenotes that the original is always made from unicorn tears and any reformulation might as well be mud water but the reformulated dhi is much better. they fixed it, they got it right. its more balanced and seamless now, its totally addictive. many people invested a lot of money in tracking down a vintage assuming its better. im not saying people arent entitled to their own opinion but if you dont want to smell like lipstick then you should get the new formulation. its better in every aspect to my nose.

You should ask them atleast 1 hour into drydown. One can never judge fragrances by top notes.

The One while smelling good has never granted me a compliment, way too weak too. A few peple have even said they don't like it. I have yet to meet anyone male or female whp hasn't liked or loved DHI when smelling it. Add to that EDP potency and we are in business.

DHI smells like MiP to you? Is it possible you've suffered a nose injury recently? :P

In my own anecdotal experience only, The One is very popular with women. It seems to get overwhelmingly positive reactions from female co-workers, friends, and most importantly, the gf. DHI is more polarizing in my experience, with women (and men) often equating it with a woman's perfume (some have said "old lady smell"!), but the ones that enjoy it *really* enjoy it, so it's tough. And for me, the gf doesn't care for DHI at all. But I've decided to try to make the relationship work anyway

I find The One BETTER than DHI..though I do not like The One that much...

I own both. I have come around on DHI and actually purchased it very recently, but I don't wear it in public very often since I do still find it pretty feminine. The One is an exceptional fragrance and is much more versatile and wearable IMO.

The One smells cheap and generic next to the sophistication of DHI.

Wholeheartedly agree with riverwide, the sophistication and quality of DHI cannot be compared with The One, which only lasts for about 5 minutes.

DHI has indeed a sort of sophistication and panache highly unlikely to reach a high consensus of admirers - but even this makes this scent even more pleasantly intriguing.

I have DHI (the reformulated version - never smelled the vintage one) and I love it. It is probably my favourite fall/winter fragrance along with A*Men, L'Instant Extreme and Pure Malt.

I understand that some of the girls at the mall may have preferred 'The One' (owned it a few years ago - gave it away), but I think the key word is 'girls'. I don't think it matters if the girls were from Israel, Canada (where I live) or the US....girls probably lean more to fragrances like "The One", Abercrombie Fierce, One Million, Acqua di Gio, etc. There's nothing wrong with that.

Women (ie. 30+ and up) may lean more to fragrances like DHI, etc.

I will say that my #1 fragrance for compliments is A*Men. I only wear it in the fall/winter and I have received a LOT of compliments on that one.

Honestly, I would not care if one girl/woman out there did not care for DHI. I love it and that is what really counts with me.

Your sample size is too small a subset of the population to draw a statistically significant conclusion.

Over time The One has really grown on me. I love it now, regardless of the fact that it's disgustingly popular. And it's absolutely beloved by the women I've dated. One used to call it "[sexual euphemism] juice." She was a classy one.

Someday there will be an EDP of The One. I pray.

    2. Tom Ford Neroli Portofino

    5. Creed Original Vetiver
