Default Short article about l'heure bleue (Le Monde, in French)

Interesting to note the recognition that the formula has been altered due to restrictions on coumarin.

Thank you. I found the idea of gourmand and L'Heure Bleu interesting, we never think of it as such. But yes the heliotrope/Guerlainade really is sort of food like

Nice link. They don't talk about the "penis" bottle and the reformulated white musk flanker.

Indeed, gourmand in the modern sense doesn't really apply to HB. No big note of cake, chocolate, coffee or the like. But it has a smooth base that discretely resembles almonds and nuts. Turin calls it "gianduia accord". Interesting that the article attributes it to ambers and coumarin rather than heliotropin (though the amande reference likely refers to it). In any case, both have been restricted, together with eugenol (oeillet), so that's a triple blow to HB.

The magic of L'Heure Bleue has always been the floral (anise) accord for me. I do like the basenotes and enjoy the drydown, but it's not what makes it what it is (was) for me. As cacio said there is a triple blow to L'Heure Bleue as perfume. Thanks for the link, G.!
