Default Spraying on the hair ?

Hey guys, I've seen a few people spray cologne on their hair.
I was thinking to myself it might be a good place to spray since the natural oils of the hair will be able to carry fragrance better than skin.

I've never done it personally, but have thought about it.

    What are your opinions ?

I used to do it when I left my hair natural. Now I generally have wax and hair spray in it, so the scents mix (green apple + hair spray + fragrance = toxic).

never tried it, personally. I prefer the way fragrances develop on my skin.

I have not tried myself, but hair is known to keep frags extremely well and for a long time (as does fur. Hairy skin keeps perfume somewhat better too). Though it can be very close to the nose, so I'd make sure it's on the back of the head.

I started to grow my hair(to spray perfume) 3/4 years ago. Recently, I noticed substantial amount of hair getting caught in the sink/drain & possible bald spots; not sure if they have to to do w/ longer hair/perfume/simply age..

Try it urself, if u don't want hair.

I have only sprayed incidentally on my hair.

When one walks through a scent cloud to apply, naturally, some of the fragrance will be absorbed by one's hair.

However, inasmuch as fragrances are for the most part alcohol, targeted spraying, as opposed to misting, may be deleterious to your hair.

I've been spraying into the hairline at the nape of my neck for about 30 years- just not everytime- maybe twice a month. I haven't noticed any ill effects vis a vis hair growth. Scent applied there lasts a long time; even hours after application if I brush out that area the scent regenerates.

yes i do spray in my hear, back of the head and sides, just above the year, it carries/holds the perfume extremely well. from time to time, i lighlty run my fingers through my hair to 'release' the smell, it really does the trick. for the record, i have short black hair but very full and thick and do not use any products for it, so for me it really works.

I hardly do this, but whenever I did it, I got good, actually unexpectedly good, projection and longevity.

I do not really recall. I only did it a few times, but I would assume they were above average. Regardless, I found it pointless in the long run. A decant of the scent I usually wear (Boss Bottled) and a 2 second trip to the restroom is all I need to keep smelling nice.

I always spray my hair, and apply solids like Oud Luban to the hair also. Increased longevity for sure

I don't think it is a good idea. Too much alcohol. Will dry your scalp.

Have been including hair in the spraying of fragrance for years. Obviously it's not sprayed directly onto the scalp - merely misted above the head and the tiny drops fall gently onto the hair. I've been complimented (by taller men standing in line behind me) on the good effects.

No ill effects to report. Between shampoo, conditioner, styling product and hairspray, I'd be very surprised if there were.

I apply some light scents to my hair.

I have somewhat hairy chest and it can hold perfume really good.

Ah, so that's how you girls do it. I was wondering why they made great smelling hair products for women, and not men (no, I do not believe Axe hair shampoo smells nice).

Never directly, but, since I've got very long hair that I keep generally tucked on my left shoulder, it sometimes absorbs the fragrance I've sprayed on the décolletée, and it lasts for ages!!!! Not a good thing if you, as I do, change fragrance every day- and sometimes more than once in a day!

some times with my splash ons or even sprays If i spray my hands I'll run it through my hair. Why spray the hand you say? well If I know I'm going to be shaking or holding a special ladies hand than I usually put some on there so they'll think about me later.

I have long hair and I rarely ever use hair styling product on it (think Alice in Wonderland for hairdo -except medium brown and much less full) .I will spray my hair on purpose and it does get extremely good longevity that way.

I would caution anyone using citrus/lavenders that they may be more photo sensitive and I'm not sure how they might react as far as potential bleaching effect if exposed to a lot of sunlight. I know an old recipe for" natural "highlights was to use lemon juice on the strands of hair and let the sun bleach them.
I would also be careful if there were any haircolor /henna dye in the hair as it could possibly mess with the color job.
My hair is virgin (unprocessed) hair and so it seems safer -less chemical reactions possible. Also some lines of scent do offer co-orinating hair mists : Carnal Flower,Pink Sugar,Angel, and several Guerlains ,so I figure it's probably pretty safe .After all most hair products are scented too -just not always what we Fragrance lovers wish to smell !
