    Default Ramon monegal

Anyone have experience with RAMON MONEGAL fragrances? My favorite Perfume Shoppe Penny Lane Perfumes in Rehoboth Beach DE has just added his line. I am fascinated with the earthy scents he has, I love Montale, and other spicy/earthy fragrances...any experience with RAMON MONEGAL?

I have tried Cuirelle which is a lovely soft spicy haze of sugary honey and incense with hints of what smells like violet. Mon Patchouli is also very nice, if you can imagine the Patchouli in Givenchy Gentlmen lightened with quality jasmine which is a bit powdery then you basically got it. Smells good and a jasmine that a man can wear with confidence because of the patchouli. Also Agar Musk reminds me of Montale's Dark Aoud but without the leather. All in all good fragrances.

I read through the other thread...seems like alot of complaining that He debuted with so many frags. Hey, comparing him to Montale isn't a bad thing in my book!

I stopped by the boutique when I was in Barcelona in July. Tried a few. Don't remember the names. Personally wasn't impressed. Thought the boutique was nice and so were the people working there. Others on Basenotes seem to like the line though.

So far my two favorites are Umbra and Agar Musk. Here is my brief take on those I've tried.

UMBRA - Cool green and mossy vetiver with a dry cold opening that warms up through the mid notes. An excellent vetiver fragrance. 4/5.

AGAR MUSK - initially smells similar to a light Borneo Oud with a minty presence - very wonderful. The light musk resemblance to Montale Musc to Musk emerges through the mid notes and resolves with a very nice light incensed musk scent. 4.5/5.

CUIRELLE - opens with a wonderful mid toned leather scent, but the slight florals become more prominent as it dries turning it slightly feminine. Still it is nice to smell. 3/5.

I have not been able to sample Mon Cuir, Impossible Iris or Entre Naranjos but I look forward to these as they sound excellent.

DRY WOOD - limencello, patchouli, and cedar. Reminiscent of M/Mink at the start the tart dry woods remain with little evolution or character. 2/5.

AMBRA DI LUNA - Opens with a warm charming amber floral that acquires a floral incense tone you might smell from Sai Babba Nag Champa but the base keeps the amber and never lets the florals go either. A beguiling feminine amber scent pleasant but not mysterious at all. 2.5/5.

A very interesting line that is well worth checking out. Great quality of the ingredients, solid accords, no frills. Probably not groundbreaking or revolutionary yet anything but boring or dull. Highly recommended stuff...

Here are my favorites (in no particular order)

    Entre Naranjos
    Impossible iris
    Agar Musk
    Ambra Di Luna
    Mon Patchouli
    Cuirelle
    Mon Patchouly

Thanks all! Like I said Penny Lane Perfumes in Rehoboth Beach Delaware has just begun carrying him. They also carry Montale, Mona di Orio, and Serge Lutens, all of which have unique spicy/earthy mid-eastern type fragrances. (I don't work for them, or have any stake in the business at all), but it is a neat shop to visit if you are in the PA/MD/DE/NY/NJ area. I LOVE any unique frags. that few people have discovered yet.

Just got around to sampling a couple from Luckyscent. Particularly like Entre Naranjos and Umbra.

Surprised this is not getting more action, as this seems like a quality line. Any current thoughts out there on the line in general, or best scents?

I just bought all 13 samples from Parfum1.com in 2ml samples. I have liked every Ramon Monegal I have tried so far.

Nice to hear - any that you feel are full bottle worthy?

I know Agar Musk and Dry Wood are already on my list of "to buy" They are phenomenal. As for the rest, I have not disliked anything I have tried, and this seems like a house that I must try them all.

Ah, crap. I just put in for some samples and omitted Dry Wood. It'll just be Entre Naranjos, Cuirelle, and Agar Musk.

Dry Wood is very unique...a desert-dry sawdust scent with a sharp astringent top note.

Great line with very good quality

really like Agar Musk, Impossible iris and Cuirelle

Dry wood has excellent longevity, but too linear and too sharp for my taste
