Saw the title and instantly though Rochas Man.

I agree with A*men. I wore it out a couple times this week...the first 30 minutes is pretty tough to get through, but it's all smooth sailing after that.

That blue arrow by your name is throwing people off. Most men are desperately afraid of gourmands and so the suggestions you receive will all be tempered with woods and leather and such as that is typically how the noses calibrate a gourmand for men to make it suitably "masculine". I have no fear of gourmands at all and I have no fear of wearing even "feminine" fragrances if it so strikes me, but even my recommendations would probably not satisy your desire for an authentic burnt sugar gourmand. My first thought was "Une Bois Vanille" which I happen to love, but it does have a load of cedar in there.

I would suggest two things: 1) check with the ladies on the female fragrance thread as most women tend not to have a fear of unabashedly sweet gourmands minus the woods 2) check out the Demeter line which does single concept fragrances designed to capture a fragrances found in life. They have a ton of gourmands, including caramel, so perhaps you can find something there or can layer something you find there with a more complex companion fragrance.

My personal sweet favorites are the aforementiond "Une Bois Vanille", Dior "Eau Noire", and Michael Jordan "Legend".

I didn't think Rochas man would smell like caramelized sugar. But now that I have it...+1 on Rochas Man.

    Welcome to Basenotes!

Have you tried the original Flowerbomb (the name is misleading; it is not about flowers)? The opening smells like burnt sugar to me.

Aquolina Blue Sugar. A bit unrefined but it fits your requirements. Cheap to buy too.
