Default SOTD: Tuesday 23rd October 2012

    Good morning my lovelies

Very tired today even although I got a good long, uninterrupted, free of alcohol sleep. Hate it when that happens.

Anyhow, my SOTD is MDCI - Ambre Topkapi

Hope you all have a great Tuesday x

Another misty, grey day here in London. At least the temps are mild (for now, word is arctic winds are arriving by the week's end).

    Good morning folks!

SotD not chosen yet as I'm headed back for some more ZZZs, having seen my daughter off to school.

Mom seems to have bursitis in her shoulder, so I'll be trying to get her in to see her Orthopedic Dr. whenever they have an opening.

And yes , it was wifey, twins and myself. And a little one just past his or her 1st trimester.

The twins loved Hong Kong. A buffet for the senses. Constant lights, sounds, smells, people and general commotion.

    Good morning everyone!

Congratulations regarding your happy news hedonist, and thanks for posting the great pics! I was in Hong Kong just a few months ago, and you've taken me right back ...along with my beautiful sotd, Shalimar Parfum Initial, which was one of the fist things I purchased upon arrival, so this is a real stroll down memory lane!

((ExtremeK)) - I posted and dashed so quickly yesterday that I missed that you broke your toe - oh no!! I've been there too, so I really feel for you. You take it easy - I hope you're on the mend soon!

Wolfie - yay, you have it! I'm really looking forward to your thoughts on the new La Perla.

Wow, the pictures from Hong Kong are beautiful hedonist - enjoy!

    Today it's:

    Lagerfeld Classic by Lagerfeld

My older brother wore this the entire time he was a teen, so I always felt a little weird wearing it (like I was wearing his clothes or something) but I've gotten over the associations and now enjoy it as my own scent. A couple months ago I came upon a guy wearing this and it smelled SO GOOD on him I had to ask him what fragrance he was wearing and he told me it was Lagerfeld which really surprised me, I thought I knew what it smelled like, but it seems as if my nose has evolved and I'd forgotten how wonderful it is. I snagged a cheap vintage bottle here on the sales boards, that was a splash and I decanted it into one of my travel atomizers. I would imagine this stuff will last me all of my life, it is so strong! Only 3 sprays from my tiny atomizer and I am probably going to be smelling this all day. Gotta love the eighties.

LadyM, I love your photo -- so evocative for Tabac Blond.

Thanks, Evangeline! I'm doing really well. I actually went to yoga last night, and my instructor modified some of the poses for me so I could do them. In fact, last night was the first time I was able to do half-moon pose on both legs -- I guess focusing on balancing without hurting my toe helped me NOT focus on how much I hate half-moon pose. HA!

I'm working from home today and haven't selected a fragrance yet but will post once I do.

It's a true bargain ($30 for 100mls, now that is hard to beat!) And it lasts and lasts. The body lotion is great, too, and their soaps.

I finally settled on some ancient My Sin extrait. I'm not sure it's really for me. I think I smell narcissus in it, which I love, but there is something floral &high pitched that grates. I'm very hard to satisfy lately. The fragrances that usually please me are beginning to feel like aliens. The wheel turns again...click. But it will be back around again, I'm sure...click, click.

Already? That's great! Sounds like she could be in for an easy (relatively speaking) pregnancy. Have to say, I'd be crying if I were in Hong Kong with no stomach for Chinese food. How unfair!

Interestingly, when I wore this shirt last week, I wore Sonoma Scent Studio's now-discontinued Egyptian Musk perfume oil (applied at the base of my neck). Even though the shirt has been through the washer and dryer, I can *still* clearly smell it. Wow! Now *that's* longevity!

Am in Santal Majuscule as well.

I like it, and can appreciate why it's a truly great scent, but I just can't wear it. The cocoa note is really pronounced on my skin and turns a tad cloying. Besides, it's more of a cold weather fragrance. If you live somewhere where you get dark, snowy winters, then Santal Majuscule would be an excellent scent. But given we get relatively mild winters in SF, and a rather sunny autumn, it's just not something I can see myself buying in the near future.
