Default Looking for a refined version of Invictus

I had a sample of it and I liked it but it was very one dimensional.

What I liked about it was that it is a nice, clean fresh scent that was not to sharp or soapy. It was also well received by others around me. Too many of these frags smell like soap to me.

Is there a higher end house that makes something similar -- fresh, clean, not soapy or sharp, but with a less chemically note? Sorry, I know it's a generic question. But, I'm looking for something like Invictus that is a little less generic.

Perhaps Ultima by Swiss Arabian or Me Sport by Al Musbah

Invictus came across as a total mess to me. That said, the note that was most prominent seemed to be the appallingly synthetic grapefruit.

If you want a better version of this, that still highlights a grapefruit-like accord without being overtly chemical, check out Solaris by Agonist. I'm guessing that this will be precisely what you are looking for.

I'd say Bulgari Pour Homme Extreme -- fresh, clean, not soapy, refined, and has a grapefruity-ness that's pretty interesting. Worth a sniff, anyways.
    -- Creamy, salty-sweet, an oaky nuttiness . . . You detect that?
    -- Oh I'm detecting nuttiness.

Solaris vs Invictus? Mans gonna know the difference alright!

Suggest the new Pomelo by Atelier too

The Solaris sounds intriguing. Unfortunately, like all the Amouage frags I'm stuck ordering samples.

I think I'll swing by Nordstroms and get a sample of the Bulgari as well as Bleu de Chanel EdP.

I realized another way to ask the question: A warm aquatic. Something that is perfect on a sunny day or to make one think of a sunny day and appropriate for daytime office use but yet offers something beyond the simple "fresh scent." I think Escape for Men was a decent example of this on top, but it also lacked any depth.

If Gucci made a Pour Homme II Fraiche or Sport, it would probably be exactly what I'm searching for.

I wanted to like it. Tried it for a week and never got beyond meh. It's not offensive.
