Tubereuse 3 by Histoires de Parfums
On a quest for tuberose. Sort of narrowed it down to these two. Which do you prefer or do you like something else?
1. Epic Man by Amouage (33 wears)
2. Leather Oud by Christian Dior (31 wears)
3. M7 by Yves Saint Laurent (27 wears)
4. Oud Imperial (black) by Perris Monte Carlo (22 wears)
5. Russian Tea Ritual by Masque (20 wears)
6. Fate Man by Amouage (19 wears)
Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
Tubereuse 3 by Histoires de Parfums
both are very well made and i love both.
it's a tough choice, but i'll go with Tubéreuse Criminelle, just slightly

Carnal Flower is beautifully done but a bit too feminine for me to pull off IMO. Criminelle has a very interesting camphorous opening that I really like and tend to think would be more wearable (for me). So I think what I'm saying is that if I owned both I would wear Criminelle more but I think Carnal Flower is a better overall rendition of tuberose.
Tough choice, both are excellent and deserve to be in a wardrobe. In the end, I choose Tub Cri because it is more striking, angular, and perhaps more masculine. Carnal Flower, as others were saying, is however a more realistic rendition of the flower.
HdP Tubereuse 3 animale is also a good contender, but in a way it is the less tuberose-y of the group. It highlights the sweetish, decaying aspect of the flower, supported by the immortelle. So one needs to like immortelle. It is definitely the more masculine and because of the immortelle it lasts forever.
With $$$$, there's also JAR Eclair, of course.

Tubereuse Criminelle for me, but it's really not a difference in quality - I own a bottle of TC, but always have a decant of Carnal Flower around. To me they're artistic equals; both "five star" frags, it's just that the warmer, spicier, bolder Criminelle just suits me a lot more.
Think of painting: which do you prefer, Expressionism or Photorealism? The answer may guide you in this question...
It's too hard. I think I'd have to flip a coin; I couldn't make the choice.
But I'll also throw Mona di Orio's Tubereuse into the mix.
I own and enjoy Tubereuse Criminelle by Serge Lutens. The composition of which mirrors a phoenix, the tuberose, rising out of a flood of camphoraceous petrol, to reveal its dark and sensuous qualities, magically subduing those that care to inhale.
Carnal Flower is far more beautiful to me. l respect TC, but on me, after that opening, it fades to a rather quiet, pretty floral. Whereas CF projects further & lasts much longer.
"What is this secret connection between the soul, and sea, clouds and perfumes? The soul itself appears to be sea, cloud and perfume..." - from Zorba the Greek by Nikos Kazantzakis.
Try Parfumerie Generale Tubereuse Couture, too. I'm torn between it and Tubereuse Criminelle - they're very different from one another, and I can't decide which is my favorite.
Carnal Flower
It has to be TC for me. More challenging, striking and distinctive.
It's funny how we all perceive and remember scents differently. To me, Tubereuse Criminelle is exactly how I perceive a peak-of-ripeness tuberose flower in a room, sitting in a vase of water beside a window for the heat of the sun to get as much smell to radiate from the flower. It's striking to me and the "moth ball" smell is right on. I loved this perfume from first-sniff. Sugandaraja mentions Expressionism vs Photorealism and to me Tubereuse Criminelle is a photo with the saturation adjusted to be greater while Carnal Flower requires my mind to "squint its eyes" to get the tuberose and I wonder if I am the opposite of everyone else.
After the tremendous opening, Tubereuse Criminelle may feel a little quiet. Carnal Flower has a stronger presence and needs a lighter touch on the trigger. Another option I'd consider is By Kilian Beyond Love.
I couldn't decide among Tubéreuse Criminelle, Carnal Flower, Tubéreuse 3 or even Tubéreuse Couture, but then again, I'm a sucker for tuberose...

Both are great![]()
Food for thought: as a long-time lover of Tubereuse Criminelle ( and a mourner of its export reformulation ) I will say that it has been amped up in volume some in its latest form. The buzz of the top lasts longer.
Carnal flower is winning by a nose. I sampled both today and have a preference but since I started this thread I will not vote.

Carnal Flower. Comparing CF and TC is like comparing caviar with a new york steak.
Wow - this is some post revival (!) but anyway how about my SOTD - Richard James Savile Row?
l'élégance est un rituel
Haven't tried TC, but I enjoyed Beyond Love more than Carnal Flower. Warmer and rounded off by coconut.
Of the two from the poll, the Malle is more to my liking.
Remember that while it is perfectly acceptable to criticize the content of a post - criticizing the poster is not.
Mean spirited, nasty, snide, sarcastic, hateful, and rude individuals on Basenotes don't warrant or deserve my or other Basenoters' acknowledgement or respect.
I like the concept of Tubereuse Criminelle much better - striking, angular, petroleum note and tubereuse afterwords... sounds very masculine.
I found a bottle of it (which was hard in Russia) and on my skin it's a light floral musk after that glorious opening which is dissapointing.
So I'd vote for Carnal Flower.
Chiming in again: I think nothing comes close to the breathtaking beauty that is Carnal Flower. Afterwards, there is a second line of gorgeous tuberose scents like Fracas, Caron's Tubéreuse, Mona di Orio's Tubéreuse, Tubéreuse Criminelle, Tubéreuse Couture, Tubéreuse 3 Animale, Nuit de Tubéreuse, Narcotic Venus, Poison... all of this of course IMO.
