    Question Bleu de Chanel flankers

Do you guys think Chanel will ultimately start pumping out flankers for Bleu de Chanel like they have for Allure Homme? Or do you think they will leave the fragrance alone and let it stand on its own? Bleu Sport? Bleu Extreme? Bleu Edition Bleu?

There's always that possibility especially since the original is selling well.

Best sellers always spawn flankers. I just hope they are no too silly or redundant.

Flqnkers are such a pain, showing an extreme lack of creativity. Always seems, to me, to be a lazy marketing idea. If you want a new fragrance, think up a new name.

Hope not. Bleu de Chanel might as well of been called "Allure Blue" anyways.

Bleu de Chanel Noir or Coco Bleu de Chanel.

Really hope that this does not take place!
This scent is not unique in anyway like other mainstream fragrances which deserve being a head of a line!
A complete boring idea, even before happening...!

IIRC, Bleu de Chanel is now the third best-selling men's fragrance in the US, behind longtime #1 Acqua di Gio and #2 D&G Light Blue. Quite an accomplishment by any standard.

Since success spawns flankers, and both Light Blue and AdG have seen flankers this year, I could see Chanel launching a Bleu flanker in the near future.

    While not all real flankers:
    Monsieur got Concentree
    Antaeus got Sports
    Egoiste got Concentree & Platinum
    Allure got many
so it's 99% safe to say that Bleu will have at least one flanker at some point.

I'll forgive 'em as long as they keep up the good stuff like Les Exclusifs and the original versions of the male frags.

They will. If it sells, they will make a flanker of it. I honestly don't see how though.

I definitely hope not as I can't stand the original... The addition of flankers would be adding insult to injury.

I am certain it will have flankers. Probably a night version and a sport version

Perhaps Bleu de Intense or Extreme that might correct the weak longevity issues? Seriously I wish Chanel would as I do enjoy BdC a lot!

I could go with either - I love the scent.

I use the aftershave lotion (the clear one, not the balm) as a kind of sport version already. It goes on like an EDC, and I actually prefer to wear it if I'm going straight into a meeting in the morning. I'll wait until later to put on the EDT. It's a nice, subtle scent.

If they cut back the initial fresh blast, or make it less arctic and perhaps more spice-like, I could see an intense or night version.

But you know what would really be cool? A full-throttle parfum - to compete with the recent men's parfums that designers have been moving toward. Rework Bleu to maintain the basic character that the people who love the scent already love about it, but move it in a slightly less mainstream, and more niche-like direction. Cut back on the overall projection - especially the fresh part - but make it rich and complex by amping up the dark and "dark blue" parts of the base.

    I would buy that blind!

Well, from empirical point of view, yes. I think they've "raped" Allure enough and there's no much space left for that. Bleu is a perfect choice, however I could be wrong.

I'd say the chances are good. Fragrances houses like to trade on popular names as the already mentioned Allure name among others proves. It's easier to make flankers for popular fragrances for the same reason it's easier to make sequels to box office hit movies: the company knows they'll make money because of the name on the front and it takes a lot less imagination to put them out.

Bleu is already sporty enough and doesn't need a Sport flanker. I'm placing my money on an "Intense" or EDP version.

Default Re: Bleu de Chanel flankers

There shouldn't be an intense of EDP version of Bleu. Although, fragrances like Burberry London and D&G The One that smell great but have terrible projection and longevity should be intensified.

The SA at Macy's said that a lot of people love to mix Bleu de Chanel with other Chanels like Coco M....she demonstrated and it did indeed smell really great.
