Default Cologne Noire by Van Cleef & Arpels

I have a sample of this, but now I don't remember why (as in--what made me put it on my To Try list). I've only been wearing it an hour so far, but I really, really enjoy it (as does my wife). Still...I can't find much on it. The 4-5 normal blogs/sites that I go to for info on fragrances has little-to-nothing on it. Even here...only 4 reviews and not many posts (that I've found through the search engine anyway).

Has anyone else out there tried/owned this? Thoughts? I realize a bottle is crazy-expensive, and it only comes in eau du cologne, so longevity will be an issue, but this is a very pleasant scent on me. Sweet but spicy. Deep enough to catch attention but soft enough to be considered subtle. It FEELS like a warmer-weathered, night(ish)/date scent?

^^Thanks. That's one of the places I usually check, but I 29 reviewers (while better than the 4 here) still isn't a lot. But, yes, that's where I've found the most info on it. Thanks again.

Until I read this thread, I didn't even know this one existed. Now I may have to try it.

I was wrong about the eau du cologne part...I misread something on their site. It comes in EDP, which is a bummer, because it DIDN'T last long. Maybe 2-4 hours for me, but I would say it would be a great date night scent...so long as you were close to each other. Really pleasant for those few hours though.

Although I don't own it, I've sampled it and IMO it's a very nice scent.

Same here, tried it a number of times and enjoyed it each time.

yes, it's a new line called haute perfumerie, the stuff is rather non existen in duration, it's VC&A trying to go private blend, a waste of money indeed!

Agreed. If it was cheaper, I'd jump all over it and just deal with the brief lifespan, but at that price? No thanks. Too bad...it's one of the few frags that both my wife and I adored.
