    Default favorite dry (non-sweet) fragrannce

    Hey guys,

What are some non-sweet fragrances that you enjoy and that are also compliment getters from ladies?

I know Guerlain Vetiver and Terre d'Hermes are 2 popular ones here that might fit the bill, but I actually dont enjoy either. I was hoping you can refer me to some other dry masculine fragrances.

    Thanks!

Lalique: Encre Noire for a dry woody vetiver
Roger & Gallet: Open for a dry woody

    Both are excellent designer scents!

    - Dolce & Gabbana: Pour Homme (vintage)
    - Pal Zileri: Cuoio
    - Loewe: Esencia/Pour Homme/Solo
    - Davidoff: Leather Blend Edp
    - Revillon R
    - MPG: Santal Noble
    - Acqua di Parma: Colonia Intensa /Leather/Oud
    - Knize Ten
    - YSL: Kouros (Fraîcheur)
    - Dior: Aqua Fahrenheit

I also second Encre Noire, but if it's vetiver what you don't like in the Guerlain, then you won't like this either. Fresh dry, I'd say Rive Gauche for men.

Platinum Egoiste, or Bleu de Chanel if you'd consider that one dry.

    Check out Burberry London, too.

My go to dry frag is Guerlains Vetiver Extreme. Starts with a lovely citrusy accord that quickly moves into a woody vetiver. The longevity and sillage are above average as well.

Could Aventus be considered here? I don't really think it's sweet, though others feel the opening is. I do agree with TDH though, as that's a pretty dry fragrance with the flint and iso-e-super...lovely though.

With the pineapple/apple/vanilla, there is a slight sweetness, if only imagined, when smelling it just due to the association of those items.

Don't really think you could get away with Aventus. It's sweet to my nose too...

To answer the OP question, I would suggest Chanel Sycomore. It's very close to TdH, but more woody and the luscious drydown is indeed very dry. No sweetness at all, yet no bitterness either. Can't recommend it highly enough.

My 2 favourites are Tam Dao and CdG 2Man. I have had some compliments on them, but not many. Then again I tend to only spray under my shirt, so you normally have to get really close to get a good smell.

YSL L'Homme is a great one for what you're looking for. No sweetness yet it's sexy and will garner compliments.

Longevity is lacking in this one tho.

Annick Goutal Duel, Parfumerie Generale Harmatan Noir.

You could also try leather scents, there are many dry ones among them (though they can be a challange).

I'll add a third vote for Tam Dao by Diptyque. And add vintage Demon by Raphael.

Another vote for Rive Gauche. One of the best recent dry scents in ages.
