Default I have never tried anything from Amouage

I hang my head in shame.

Any recommendations for what I should try as far as samples or decants, and sources for them?

First thing that strikes you with the Amouages is the superb quality and luxurious feel. Makes you a little reluctant to go back to wearing common generic designer frags.

I would recommend you try Epic Man, jubilation XXV, Reflection Man, Interlude Man and Tribute Attar.

Great house. You really should explore at your earliest convenience!

I would suggest Jubilation XXV (if you only try one, this should be it), Epic Man, Memoir Man, and Lyric Man. Others are good also, but these are ones that should certainly be tried.

You can get samples from LuckyScent or (more costly) The Purfumed Court.

    Enjoy!

I might be in the minority here but I think, aside from Lyric Man, all the Amouage "Man" offering that I have tried (Reflection, Silver, Ciel, Honor & Interlude) are very underwhelming and overpriced. I do enjoy Memoir Man but it doesn't smell too unique to me

    Let's me breakout like this

Lyric Man - Rose on a oriental base that dominated by vanilla and white musk
Memoir Man - Dark, sandalwood/pencil shaving but somehow manage to be creamy opening with a boring drydown
Reflection Man - Le Male opening with a more interesting and deep drydown
Honor Man - Nice smelling, peppery but not over baring. However it smells just like a designer fragrance that I've smelled before. Cannot remember the name though
Interlude Man - The worst of them all. Memoir Man for tween. They dump a tons of gourmand note onto Memoir Man and call it a day. Smells like something from Aquolina with a pencil shaving smell underneath that doesn't go well together with it

I do not have enough wearing of Ciel & Silver so I'd rather not comment about them

Try the Jubilation duo (XXV is an incense oriental and 25 is an ambery chypre) and Gold for women (abstract foral).

Everybody has his or her own favorites.

I'd say you should sample Gold man, the biggest floral around. Very controversial because of the high doses of civet and flowers, but it gives an idea of the power and plushness of the line.
Also Jubilation XXV, which is based on frankincense, supposedly one of the signature materials of the line.

If you wanna just buy one bottle from this line (as I did), try Jubilation XXV.
The other recommendable scent is Epic Man, I think.
The others are overpriced and not unique to me.
(I've not tried Interlude Man and Gold Man)

    Jubilation forever and ever.
But even if not Jub, you are very likely to find something you will love from the House. And then regret it $$$$$$$$$ kidding

Jubilation XXV from their regular line, if you feel like trying attars I think an underappreciated one is Asrar.

I can say whole heartily that Amouage was instrumental in opening my nose to frags (and notes) that otherwise - i wouldnt have got to try in designer frags. You could say that thats the house that started my REAL obssesion with frags
