Default L'essence de cerutti by cerruti

The reason I'm posting this thread is that I find the slight need to promote this juice a bit. Ok, it's not an epitome of creation, but I do believe quite a few here might respect this fragrance and even call it a masterpiece. Leather, musky scent that gives off a feel of "expensive" or high class. Now, I do know that Cerruti per se is not a "famous" house in this community, however their creations, well some at least, are en par with the "famous" houses.

L'essence de cerruti has only 9 reviews, including mine, and all are positive. I'm also sure there's a lot of you here who tried it, liked it, however didn't write a review - that's not the point. The point is that you join here and discuss a few words about it as I believe that this scent deserves this pretty much. Be it one thread where it's mentioned - fine. One thread it is. Mine.

A very nice subtle smooth leather, indeed.

Really like this stuff. I find that mint is very pronounced during the dry down on my skin. It's an absolute bargain at the price.

Indeed, it puzzles me that Cerruti frags are usually quite cheap, well on sites at least.

Not horrid but found it unsatisfying.

TK Maxx had quite a few Cerruti fragrances the last time I've been in there. Perhaps worth a look for someone interested in the house.

Yeah, its a quality fragrance, something you could give as a gift with pretty sure assurance that the recipient would enjoy. It reminds me of a grown up Moschino Uomo, but with the personality sucked out of it.

I have this on my wishlist. How's the longevity, sillage, projection, etc.?

Longevity 8+ hours on me, projection moderate - don't expect Joop! Pour Homme here

For me, the only problem with the scent was that the opinion I formed of it from wrist sampling (that it was a bit ho-hum), was nothing like the opinion I formed of it from the actual wearing (that it was fabulous).

Some scents just don't do well in wrist or paper testing in indicating to their actual performance.

    Renato

    So boring.

I blind bought it and the bottle (design and weight) is the only redeeming feature.

I've worn it three or four times in the two years or so for which I've owned it, and haven't broken it out for almost 9 months. Really, really dull.

Don't just test it, wear it. I've heard that one before and I must agree with this. Sampling is sometimes difficult and makes the theory just a theory, never practice, well for many at least.

    Easier said than done though.
I can wrist test six or eight scents at once - and get a rough idea of whether I like each or not, and a very good idea of their longevity.
However, I can only properly test a scent I've been given a vial of. Not many vials are handed out down here.
    Regards,
    Renato

My point exactly. Lately even if I buy straight out of perfume store, I don't get a vial, and if I do get a vial - I get Davidoff Champion for instance XD

I like this scent too, it definitely offers more than consistent, even outstanding levels of exciting fragrance creativity, when I tested it first, I hardly could believe that a recently marketed, released, devised scent could have such subtlety and richness of notes.

Yet, it is not, at least not obviously, "overdressed", not too formal either, meaning it can be easily pulled off by virtually any age group and on casual occasions too, in spite of its complexity.

I agree, that's why it puzzles me it doesn't get more attention here. Maybe the availability of the scent is an issue + Cerruti is not that well established here on this forum and even Salvatore Ferragamo gets more attention, no matter the fact that SF indisputably has few gems that deserve a mention or two more.
