Default Burberry Brit - safe to buy without sampling?

    Hi,

In England, bizzarely, none of the main retailers stock the two most popular Burberry scents; Brit and London. They do however have Touch (which I like) and Weekend and Burberry Sport.

Now I recently ordered Burberry London without smelling it first as I was after a scent for the Christmas season and it seemed to fit the criteria perfectly. I'm still awaiting delivery on it. Now I'm intrigued by Brit. It appears to have pretty unanimous good reviews so I really want to try it.

My favourite perfumes include Burberry Touch, D&G The One, Prada Amber, Prada Luna Rossa, Platinum Egoiste, D&G Light Blue, Chanel Bleu, Chanel Allure Sport, Issey, Armani Diamonds. - Do you think I'll like Burberry Brit?

    Thanks in advance.

When I sampled it all I got was a talcum/baby powder smell. I'm glad I didn't blind buy it.

I wouldn't blind buy it, I would sample first.

I think you will like Burberry London, but Burberry Brit is slightly mundane; dries down to a woody, powdery scent. But is safe and inoffensive. I would sample it first.

Well personally i think its a very safe scent. Safe in that it is very pleasant and non offensive.I dont know why so many people dislike it and the baby powder vibe is quite nice with the blend.I actually love this scent I bough a 100ml two weeks ago and im already half way. Also its a good everyday scent too

50ml in two weeks? Are you brushing your teeth with it?
Hard work never killed anyone, but why risk it?

Based on the scents that you already enjoy--yes, I think you'll like Brit. However, I always caution others on buying blind. Unless money is no issue, you're ALWAYS risking it.

I understand where you guys are coming from in terms of sampling and I haven't previously purchased without sampling before. The exception with London and Brit have been shops in England do not appear to stock them and similarly sampling does not seem to a big thing here. I've perused the web for samples to buy and all of them seem to be US sites. The only UK source for a Brit sample I have found is charging 7 GBP for a 5ml sample. Considering I can get a 100ml bottle from CS for 27 GBP it does not make sense.

+1 I found it to sharp and loud on me. The citrusy note was just too much on my skin. Try before buy IMO

I blind bought it, and it's okay. I payed like $40, so I wasn't too disappointed. If you want something for formal events with a powdery ginger smell, this would be fine for you. Otherwise, I'd avoid blind buying it. I don't regret it completely, but I rarely wear it now that I have a larger collection (especially samples) than before.

    Yes and no.
Yes because it is relatively inexpensive
No because it's not one of your "typical guy scents" (which is what I classify as a safe blind buy).
I've tried it a few times at Macy's and Sephora, I will not be purchasing it anytime soon.

Kinda ironic that British shops would not stock Burberry Brit and London

I bought Burberry Brit recently and do like it. I would say it is a safe blind buy because it dries down quite quickly to a subtle woody/powdery scent which I personally enjoy. The negative reviews of Brit mainly harp on the fact that it is somewhat redolent of baby powder, but really - baby powder is hardly an offensive scent. My only complaint with it is that it is a bit too subtle for my tastes - it's more of a skin scent than a sillage monster.

Be prepared for a rose component as well. Now you have flower and powder in the mix, that can be too much for some as far as note preference goes
