Default List your top cheap frags

    LOVE Claiborne Spark.

Sung Hei is a nice change of pace for me too.

I can consistently buy either for $20 or under.

There's a thread started recently with many peoples' thoughts on sub-$20 frags.

depends a bit on the definition of "cheap"...I take it as price/ml. In those terms, my top "cheapies" are:

    Burberry London
    YSL Rive Gauche
    Rochas Man
    Cool Water

^ Not sure if you mean the 1.7 of Rive Gauche, but nowadays stock is dwindling and it goes for 35 at cheapest for a 3.4 online.

It's the big bottle, and I agree with you that it is around that price online; but it is available at my local fragrance store here for just $25 (no box).

I am tempted to pray tribute to fragrance snobs and say something like Amouage's Gold, Clive Chrstian Whatever, Any Serge Lutens, Frederique Malle Y, Xerjoff Bla and Mazzolari X, but not... I might be missunderstood. Of course I could mention designer's scents that are inexpensive in the USA but down here do cost and arm and a leg.

So my cheap ones are really cheap in the Northern Hemisphere as well as down here: among those to be found in the USA, Brut, Pinaud's, Stetson, British Sterling, Avon's Suede and Wild Country. Among local ones, to the bewilderment of connationals, Tsu's Sauge, Lorenz and Caza Mayor, Canon's Crandal, Alliance and Colbert, Mc Taylor classic, Heno de Pravia, Agua de Colonia Alvaro Gómez, Lavanda Puig, Agua Brava, Quorum and Tabac EdT and EdC, Senigalias's version of Power by Kenzo and The One Gentleman, Dana's Canoe, Ona Saez Fiel and Sarkany's Amber Also some discontinued local ones like Cuero de Rosetto, Tabac by Devon and Agua de Lavanda Oro.

Yes, I really like to be complemented by snobs on cheap, inexpensive fragrances. That makes my day.

I KNOW!!! Isn't that fun!? When I first started wearing Aventus, I was asking for lots of opinions on it since I only had a sample and was debating a full purchase (which I eventually did buy). One person in particular that I asked was an acquaintance who has excellent taste and is a really nice person but also happens to be a total snob (ah well. Nobody's perfect). She liked it and was curious, so she googled it. Realizing it was very expensive, she suddenly loved it. Yeah, whatever. The next time I saw her, a few weeks later, she sniffed me and made a comment about how amazing I smelled. She even pulled over a friend of hers to smell me. AWKWARD! "Smell him. REALLY. This is what a man should smell like." Her friend agreed. "That's really nice. I wish my boyfriend wore something like that. What is it?"

I said "Curve. It's $15 at Ross." LOL!

I'm not saying Curve smells like Aventus. It doesn't. I just think that woman assumed I'd be wearing Aventus again because it's expensive. I do wear it once a week, but as anybody here knows, once you start building a collection, it's hard to wear the same scent often since you have so much to choose from.

It's true that a lot of cheap frags smell like trash. That is absolutely 100% true. But there are also a lot that are as good as anything you'd find for a hundred bucks or more.

Bvlgari Black can be had for under $25. And it's excellent.
Curve is around $15 and it's a major compliment catcher.
Dirty English: $20. Woody! Manly. Great!
Perry Ellis 360 Red. $15. It's not for me, but if you like cinnamon, it's excellent.
    Nautica Voyage. $20. Excellent.
Corduroy, by Zirh. A recent cheap addition to my wardrobe thanks to the recommendation of a fellow BNer. I really enjoy it.

You can buy all of those for less than it would cost to buy my current niche fascination: Sombre Negra by Yosh. And they're all a lot easier to wear.

I usually consider cheap to be in the $40 and under range, maybe because of how expensive certain niche bottles are or have become in recent years. Its all relative of course as what I find cheap and good smelling may be slightly expensive and smells gross to someone else. Anyways, here's some suggestions :

    Uomo Moschino
    Encre Noir by Lalique
Tsar by Van Cleef and Arpels
Midnight in Paris by Van Cleef and Arpels
    Witness by Jacques Bogart
    Ungaro III
    L'Anarchiste by Caron
    Yatagan by Caron
    Rive Gauche by YSL
    The Dreamer by Versace
    Individuel by Mont Blanc
    Bvlgari Black
    Halston Z-14

Is Bogart pour homme fairly easy to find? I've never seen it before, although I haven't been looking for it, so I might have walked right by it. How much for a 3.4?

Nevermind. Just looked it up and found it online for about $20. Nice lookin bottle.

Agreed. The pre-reformulation stuff (with oakmoss) is fantastic.

Other sub-$20 fragrances I like are 4711, Perry Ellis Portfolio Green, and Halston 1-12.

ETA: Brut classic cologne, the one with the silver medallion on the bottle. It's about $9, and it smells great.

Depends what you mean by cheap - either the ultra heavily discounted formerly full-priced scents that will disappear one day, or those manufactured now and meant to be sold cheaper than regular designer scents.

In the ultra discounted group I'd say Diesel Plus Plus is my favourite (bought for $11).
In the now being made cheap group, the reformulated Quorum is good value (bought for $15).

Though my personal favourite in the ultra-discounted and now disappeared category was Gabiella Sabatini's Wild Wind for Men that I bought for $7.
    Cheers,
    Renato
