Default Which Lutens for a blind buy

I was thinking about a classic Lutens perfume, I've tried Ambre Sultan which I liked but I have other options for an amber, Muscs Koublai Khan (soon...) and Iris Silver Mist (the sample was enough). I'm looking for something wearable so I'm not considering the likes of Tubereuse Criminelle or Sa Majeste la Rose. Please try to take into account my wardrobe.
    Thanks, Alex.

    Fille En Aiguilles

This girl in stilettos is fantastic, she smells herbal and piney and stays forever on me.

No lutens are blind buy worthy. They are so distinct.

I like gris clair. Daim blond good.

I would never advocate blind buying any of them. As a house Lutens is far too risky to purchase without sampling first. From the list I'd certainly recommend trying Chergui, Daim Blond, and Feminite du Bois.

Go for Fille En Aiguilles, a minty pine fragrance, one of the best in the line. If you want something very, very sweet but comforting and long lasting, go for Un Bois Vanille.

...of this selection I consider Chergui* the most wearable one...!

I always believe in sampling first, but sometimes I like the adventure of buying blind. They're not on your list, but I believe Borneo 1834 and Chene are the only SL scents that I'd recommend without trying first. They're more "safe" IMO compared to the other offerings from SL.

Not on your list, but 5 o'clock au gingembre is probably the safest blind buy for a Serge Lutens.

I agaist blind buying LS but if you must then I think Chergui and 5 o'clock au gingembre are moreon the safer side if you like sweet/gourmand scents

Of course blind buying Lutens is pretty risky, but if you're committed to doing it, I'd suggest Feminite du Bois. It's a dense, sweet, plummy, woody scent that wearable in a variety of contexts.
    Current Top Five:
    1. Bois des Iles--Chanel
    2. George Sand--Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier
    3. L'Ame Soeur--Divine
    4. Violet Blonde--Tom Ford
    5. Santal Blush--Tom Ford

Blind buy is usual a no-no for a Lutens. I voted for Bois Vanille for the least shock factor and pocket damage.

Feminite Du Bois for the safest and that's a stretch. Serge Lutens should be sampled

If you want sweet and unisex, go for Chergui. If you want something more dry, slightly piney and traditionally masculine, go for Fille en Aiguilles. Both are great and worth owning. I think both of them are safe blind-buys as well.

    1. L'Artisan Dzing!
    2. Lorenzo Villoresi Yerbamate
    3. Guerlain Bois d'Armenie
    4. L'Artisan Al Oudh
    5. Bond No. 9 Andy Warhol Silver Factory

The safest IMO is L'Eau Froide. Next, 5 O'Clock au Gingembre. Neither of those are on your list however. Of those, Chergui. But you might hate it.

I have made many many blind purchases. However, I wouldn't recommend a blind purchase of any Lutens fragrances.

But these are some that I would certainly recommend trying:

    Chergui
    Encens et Lanande
    Bois Oriental
    Gris Clair

I think Serge Lutens has many nice fragrances, but I haven't found any that captivated me.

Chergui but with reseveration. These are fragrances that one must learn to appreciate so if you are new to the fragranceword, do not blind buy from this house. Sample, sample, sample.

Not to hijack the thread but do you guys think L'eau Froide is a more generic scent from Lutens?

Since we seem to have reached a consensus that the Lutens line is not safe for blind-buys, I'll try to get some samples first. Trouble is that Lutens samples a not very easy to find and there are no stockists in Athens (that I know of). Anyway, thanks eveybody for your input, much appreciated.

I own Ambre Sultan, after I smelled first time. . but is not a wearable scent for any situation, for me. So I have not wore anymore..
Is Fille en Aiguilles a similar fragrance, it operates similarly?

    I've tried
Arabie, Cur Mauresque, Datura Noir, Chergui and Fumerie Turque. Disliked them all. I wanted to like this house, but haven't found one that was worth buying. Arabie was too gourmand, Chergui was too powdery. Datura Noir too floral/feminine. Cur Mauresque was the worst. A scrubber. Smelled like a truck-stop bathroom. Wet leather boots and that Oud that smells like Urinal deodorizers found in airports. Yuck. I've given up on this house.
I have a TON of Full Bottles/Decants/Samples for trade/sale. Montale, Oud Oils, Amouage, Mancera, Penhaligon's

Of the fragrances mentioned, Fille en Aguilles. Smells like a minty, piney potpourri on my skin; nice for cooler weather.

One that I like and feel is fairly safe is Gris Clair. I find it to be a brisk, incense and lavender that wears well in the spring, cool summer days and warmer fall days.
I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love.
