Both are good but GIT imo is a far superior frag than Aventus.
Green Irish tweed
Thread: Creed GIT or Aventus poll
Just wanted to start out by saying I am a creed fan boy. By far my favorite house. I have been wearing creed since 2002. In 2002 I started with a bottle of Green Irish tweed. I finished the bottle in 2005. I now own SMI, Santal Imperial, Erolfa, and Millisime imperial. I have been purchasing quantity over quality lately and I figured I need more quality frags. I sucks that Creed prices have blown up through the years. I remember buying 4 ounces of SMI for about $85.
So I am leaning towards GIT or Aventus. To be honest, I would give GIT a 10/10 and Aventus (only tested at Neimans about 4 times in the last two years) 8/10.
The reason I was thinking Aventus is because I never owned it and the hype. I am hoping that after awhile, I will like it more.
With Aventus it will be more money obviously.
Also any good place online to by it. I already checked out sentiments, fragrancenet, scented monkey, fragrancex. Any cheaper options?
Btw I got 12+ hours of longevity last time I tried Aventus

Both are good but GIT imo is a far superior frag than Aventus.
GIT by a mile.
I'd choose Aventus. GIT was my first love, Aventus is my younger hotter mistress. You can get in on a split of either, usually around $65 for 50ml.
Hard choice, both quality fragrances, but Id give edge to GIT.
Current favorites_____Gucci Pour Homme II_____Avignon_____Oud Wood_____Black Tourmaline_____Black Musk_____Memoir Man_____Tuscan Leather______Musk Ravageur_____Menthe Fraiche_____Invasion Barbare_____Tonka Imperial____Dior Homme Intense_____Allure Edition Blanche____Santal 33_____Bois d'Argent
I'll be a little depressed if Aventus wins...
GIT although love and own both.
Green Irish Tweed. Aventus is boring to me.
Current top 10 (No order):
1. Pure Havane
2. Menthe Fraiche
3. Tobacco Vanille
4. L'Air Du Desert Marocain
5. Green Irish Tweed
7. Musc Ravageur
8. Tonka Imperial
9. Gucci Pour Homme II
10. Dior Homme Intense
Both are nice, but I say Aventus - there is nothing else quite like it. GIT is excellent, but Floris JF & Bond No. 9 Chez Bond are quite similar. I actually purchased Chez Bond a few months back, since I like the subtle tea note in the dry down that is missing in GIT.
1. Creed - Spice & Wood
2. Creed - Aventus
3. Brückner - Aoud 1
4. Armani Privé - Oud Royal
5. by Kilian - Incense Oud
6. Dior - Vetiver
7. Les Nez - Turtle Vetiver Back
8. Neela Vermeire - Trayee
9. Amouage - Jubilation XXV
10. Creed - Royal English Leather
They way I am looking at it is do I buy GIT which I haven't had in years and I really really like. Or do I spend $70 more and get something that I like, never owned, and hope to like more in the future.
I happen to love both. GIT was my first true fragrance "love" & is nearly perfect IMO. I will say, however, that Aventus is growing closer & closer to it. Every time I wear it I find it better & better. Still though, of it's only an 8/10 for you & GIT is a 10, I'd lean toward spending my money on the one I know I love & find perfect. As others have said, another great idea is to get in on a split for both for the same amount or less than one.
Aventus is the better compliment getter of the two - and that's where most of the hype comes from.
With that said, I believe GIT is the better fragrance.
Ok I am seriously considering splits. Are they safe? Better to buy slit on this board or on CF?
I've never tried GIT, but considering most people just smell Cool Water, I'll vote Aventus.
(That's not the real reason I'm voting Aventus, it's cause I LOVE IT with the burning passion of 1,000 suns)
It's still Tweed...versus anything.
I don't care what arguments are made, but Cool Water and Chez Bond smell strikingly similar. Aventus is just more unique and every bit as versatile. Maybe some day someone will make a good cheap knock off and everyone will be wearing it making it just as banal and commonplace as the scent of CW/CB/GIT is in the air.
Top notes of... sweat, gasoline, motor oil; a heart of deer musk and gunpowder, resting on a base of sex and testosterone... Mandom.
Aventus will get you many more compliments.
I own both but I think GIT is king... by a far stretch.
Voted for Aventus as I think it smells better
My sales thread
Have tried Aventus a couple different times...no luck. I just don't smell what others pick up...it doesn't last more than three hours on me...it just doesn't work for me. GIT, on the other hand, is beautiful for me. It lasts all day and makes me smile every time I get a whiff of it.

Green Irish Tweed is far superior to the mediocre Aventus.
Current Top Favorites:
1) Portrait of a Lady (EdP Frédéric Malle)
2) Giorgio for Men vintage (Giorgio Beverly Hills)
3) Dia Man vintage edt (Amouage)
4) Les Nombres d'Or Vetyver (Mona di Orio) - tie
4) Lalfeorosa (O'driů) - tie
6) Anat Fritz Original Formula and Classical (Anat Fritz)
7) Captain vintage (Molyneux)
8) Tzora (Anat Fritz)
Aventus by Creed is awesome.
My answer is going to sound boring, but it is true: I can go either way. GIT and Aventus, I like them both.
GIT is a legend... Aventus is only a rookie
My Top 10
1. Amouage Homage Attar
2. Serge Lutens - Muscs Koublai Khan
3. YSL M7
4. Serge Lutens - Ambre Sultan
5. Chanel Egoiste
6. 24 Gold by Scentstory
7. Amouage Epic Man
8. Amouage Jubilation XXV
9. Bond No. 9 New York Oud
10. Serge Lutens - Chergui
"A beautiful fragrance to the nose is like good jazz music to the ears, great food to the mouth, and Megan Fox and Jessica Alba to the eyes..."
This is a tough choice to make. I say get both from a split. If no splits are open wait for them and if you are hell bent on getting it right away then go for Aventus just because you have already owned GIT.
My vote tied the poll at 18 each!
Green Irish Tweed for me. Aventus is nice and gets more compliments, but I think GIT is a perfectly made fragrance.
I just got a sample of GIT, and it's ok. But Aventus makes my heart sing. Like an overpriced call girl. But, damn, you gotta love her and keep coming back for more.
I have and Love both.....I had to go with GIT.....
I'm surprised to see G.I.T. in the winning. No problem though for I love both fragrances.
I voted for Aventus, because that's the one I prefer. But you're not me, so it makes no sense to wear my favorite instead of your own.

Green Irish tweed
1. Dior Homme Original
2. Musc Ravaguer
3. Portrait of a Lady
4. Noir de Noir
5. L Instant Guerlain pour Homme Extreme
6. New Haarlem
7. Pure Coffee
8. Blu Mediterraneo Sicilian Almond
9. Rose 31
10. Spiritueuse Double Vanille
like both but own Aventus
Green Irish Tweed.
Aventus blows GIT out of the water.
"I am a robot and I like cheese"
1. Axe Kilo
2. Lectric Shave
3. Vicks Vapor Rub
4. Febreze Pour Homme
5. Preferred Stock
My vote ties it up at 31 all! I much prefer Aventus. I do like GIT but doesn't suit me as well as Aventus.
I voted for GIT. Creed, I mean, some are nice but man, there sure is A LOT of Creed threads on the board!
"Only by pride cometh contention: but with the well advised is wisdom." "It is honorable for a man to stop striving, Since any fool can start a quarrel." Proverbs.
Aventus for me. I picked up samples of both before I ever discovered basenotes and fell in love with Aventus without ever being aware of the 'overhype' debate. Really like GIT as well though.
I've bought both from Kron via splits on this board, and both transactions have been perfect.
I'm pretty sure that International isn't an issue either given comments in his split thread.
You could buy a full bottle of GIT (from Fragrancenet) and a 50ml split of Aventus here, and come in under the price of a full bottle of Aventus, and have both. If your opinion is going to change from an 8 to a 10, 50ml should be enough to do it.
i love them both. so it entirely depends which one i'm in the mood for.
my guess is that aventus is winning because it is newer and more original (though it does match git in terms of quality). git has become very familiar to people, whereas aventus at this point, nobody as done.
in 10 years we'll probably start seeing clones of aventus all over the designer market.
Aventus wipes the floor with GIT
It's a much more modern fragrance, unique and sooooo strong that makes GIT look silly. Don't waste your money on GIT. Get Aventus out of these two and give MI a try whilst you're out there getting it!!
GIT is far better on my skin. Boy, that after shave balm.... Sensational too...
Love both but I pick Aventus, it just smells more unique to me and is blended masterfully.
I own both but I have to go Aventus which is bananas on the compliment factor!
My current top ten:
1. Spice and Wood
2. Noir De Noir
3. Musc Ravageur
6. Bois D'Argent
7. Dior Homme Intense
8. Tobacco Vanille
9. Ambre 114
10. L'air Du Desert Marocain
I don't see how anyone can own one without the other, as they are both pristine fragrances.
Aventus...both are great but I enjoy Aventus more and so do the people around me....
Ok. I have GIT on my left arm and AVentus on my right. I think they both smell good. The old lady likes GIT better.
I wonder if age has anything to do with who voted for Aventus or GIT. I am thinking maybe the young crowd would vote more toward Aventus and the older crowd voted more towards GIT. This is just a generalization that I may or may not be true.
The Old Lady?. Hope she doesn't read the forum.
All kidding aside. I am mid 50's and prefer Aventus. As good as GIT is, I find Aventus more unique.
I decided to move fwd with a split/decant of each!
I got a sample of each and I am a huge fan of Aventus... I now need to find a split!
Green Irish Tweed > pineapple > Aventus.
