Default SotD: Wed. 21st Nov., 2012

    Morning All,

Well, I stand corrected: It seems like it was sunny in at least some places yesterday. Lucky ducks ! Another grey and rainy one here.

Sampling some '70s No.5 extrait today, thanks to a certain gal
Off to the ballet tonight for a mixed programme. Can't wait to see 'my' dancer Marianela Núñez in action again.

    Have a lovely hump-day, folks.

Enjoy your outing tonight, my friend!
You sure smell graaaaaaaaaaaaand! I'm so smiling... finally you have come down to the Chanel of the Chanels!
My mood is more nocturnal and were-wolfie (not thinking of you my dear Wolfie *kiss*), so I'm in Rose de Nuit, the later Serge Lutens variety.
    Best to all

    Good morning !. Have a great evening, G .

    SotD is Creed Royal Water.

More grey gloom again today here, so will be taking the opportunity to get some Xmas shopping done (no doubt with coffee and cake fix at some stage ). I suspect the odd fragrant delight may pass in front of the radar too .

On the subject of Xmas lists - in deepest Wisconsin it appears that one SotD regular has considerably bigger ambitions this year than just the odd bottle of niche .

Grim weather here today. Transporting myself with L'Air du Desert Marocain

Have a lovely evening G and best to all. x

Starting my day extra early today to prep my side dishes for tomorrow's Thanksgiving dinner. SOTD is the beautiful, velvety-smooth Bottega Veneta.

Notes include jasmine, bergamot, pink pepper, patchouli, and oak moss

    Have a lovely day, all!

    A confession...

I started my Xmas shopping in Italy in May!! But it was a load of Santa Maria Novella Rosewater, Creams, Soaps, and Home Fragrance, so that's OK. Isn't it?

Got my stitches out of my mouth yesterday. All better.

Etro Patchouli again on this crisp sunny day.

A special of appreciation for L. He knows why.

    Enjoy your evening G.

    PURE PERFUME
Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

We are also crisp, sunny and very windy here. Kisses back at L.

Glad that more and more people are appreciating Bottega Veneta: it did not do much on this skin when I tried it first last year in Europe, but seeing that E. got a full bottle, moved me, or, rather, my credit card out of the wallet into the computer screen. Oh, the devastating power of example!

Was thinking of something indulgent, so it will be Mauboussin, plummy and very huggable.

Shades, hope they are taking good care of you and your shoulder.

(((devilcat))), congrats on your new kitties! And thank you for taking them in; the world needs many more like you and far fewer of the type who would abandon these beauties. I have my adult Lily, who wants no part of other animals, - I'm envious of your sweet little ones! Wish I could bring home some new babies, too. But I love my psychotic Lil.

(((shades)), I'm so sorry you're having a rough time; hope this flare-up is over very soon.

What a coincidence, I'm in a sample from a certain gentleman! Have fun at the ballet G.! Trying out Guerlain's Songe d'un Bois d'Ete today. I like all three of these Les Desert d'Orients! Good going Guerlain-it's about time!

(((Shades))) I hope the flare dies down quickly. My younger sister has RA and, at age 34, already has a plate in one of her wrists. It's such a terrible disease.

devilcat, those kittens are just adorable. I had one when I was young that looked a lot like the gray stripe, but it's the black one that's pulling on my heartstrings.

    Have a lovely evening, G!

YAY!! Foustie's all better! What food are you celebrating with?

d4N13L, you smell wonderful. That was my dad's go-to fragrance. He tried for years to get my LotV-loving mom to wear Tabu. Which makes me laugh a lot, knowing what I know now. I definitely inherited my fondness (addiction?) for orientals from him. Today is his birthday -- he would have been 79. I miss him but am doing things today to remember him, including lots of pre-Thanksgiving cooking! He was a tremendous cook and loved making alcoholic icings. My favorite was his almond icing with Jack Daniels. YUM!!!!

Right. Nearly forgot why I was here. SotD is PG Cadjmere.

    Take 'er easy, Shades.

While still smelling the trailings of Tuscan Leather from yesterday, I've applied CdG Jaisalmer, and that incense dovetails nicely with TL. Makes me think that, if one didn't bathe, one could cycle through fragrances by overlapping complimentary drydowns and top notes -- sort of like stringing together famous names, like Rachel Ray/Ray Charles/Charles Darwin.

    Hello everyone!

I've also been busy with Thanksgiving prep, and about to get even busier! I'm in Yves Rocher Iris Noir.

I really don't mean to gloat g, but it's another perfectly glorious day here ...but your consolation is that you get to see the Royal Ballet tonight! Marianela is beautiful - have a wonderful time! (And of course you know you smell amazing - I inherited a 2oz bottle of that 70s No5 parfum from my late grandmother, so it's quite possibly my most beloved incarnation of it. ♥)

Congratulations devilcat - enjoy your beautiful new kitties!

((shades)) - I hope your shoulder's feeling much better today!

Wolfie - so glad I could help, lol! I always try to be a good influence, and you were most certainly meant to have that Bottega Veneta anyway.

ExtremeK - it sounds like your dad was a special guy! Enjoy his birthday and all your preparations ...that JD icing sounds tasty!

Last day of studying before enjoying hot springs in a middle of nowhere under million of stars. Funny - with some honorary mentions of Chanel N 5, I just won a bottle of vintage EDT from Ebay. Long live, Ebay! In continuation of Chanel theme, today it's also 70's vintage - Chanel N 19 extrait.

Some of you may know I began a new job Nov 1st. It's temporary, while a lady is out on maternity leave. I'm working with the elderly. I got into a conversation with one of the residents tonight and low and behold, I smelled Shalimar. The rich parfum. so I asked her if that's what she was wearing. She was stunned that I recognized it and explained that she had had "a very old bottle of it".
    She smelled fantastic!
