Default "Dolce and Gabbana The One" or "Dolce and Gabbana Pour Homme?"

For a Christmas gift this year I'm looking to get either of these, but I can't decide. Between these two, which do you prefer? Of course, this comes with a caveat regarding D&G PH because you would additionally have to say which version (1, 2, 3) you like the best because of its recent reformulations .

I like the One's scent a lot, but I've heard the projection/longevity issues are a real problem. I might even get both (if I'm nice), but would they be too similar to each other? If so, are there any worthy alternatives for either?

First, they don't even remotely smell similar. 2nd, The one is a great fragrance, but the longevity is pretty bad.

As far as pour homme goes, The only one you will find in department stores now is the 3rd formulation, or made in UK version.

You might get lucky and come upon a made in germany version at TJ or marshalls, or possibly if the dept store has old stock.

As far as the original made in Italy version is concerned, the only place you will find it is ebay!

Or on the boards here at Basenotes: http://www.basenotes.net/threads/316...amp-Gabbana-PH

I think D&G PH (made in Italy) is a stunning fragrance. It's the most complimented in my collection by a country mile. It's my SOTD today. For me, it scores a perfect 10 in smell, longevity, silage and projection. The made in Germany version I can take or leave- it has too much lemon and not enough tobacco (flower) for my liking, but I still like it more than most of the designers being sold at the moment. I haven't tried the 2012 version, but I'm not expecting much. It's been widely panned by those who love the original.

The other D&G fragrance you mention, I am less enthusiastic about.

We're all in the same game; just different levels. Dealing with the same hell; just different devils.

Pour Homme is the house's masterpiece imo. Feels very italian, mediterranean, fresh spicy, sexy, stoic, yet bohemian. Love that stuff....also has no problems for longevity. A true Rossoneri fragrance

I would go with D&G ph, the vintage one ofc. Its a no contest for me. Pour homme is just much better.

If The One lasted longer, I would suggest it over PH.
    Scent wise: The One
    Longevity: PH
They are 2 different scents by the way

PH is a much better fragrance, The One is garbage.

    The One

I would go with another scent bro. The lady at Macy's said that PH is an old man's scent, and she is right. The One smells much better but the longevity and projection sucks on it. Keep doing some research, because for the money, there is better stuff out there (unless you are older).

Get Dior Homme Intense or a Chanel fragrance. You could do Allure Homme or Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme and both actually project and last on the skin.

I would recommend AGAINST getting the made in Germany version (2) of PH. Italy is the was to go.

I have not experienced version 3, but I'd pick The One over version 2.

If you can find the original PH, it wins hands down.

The original (Made in Italy) PH is a masterpiece. I have an extra bottle of it- if you're interested, PM me. The One smells great and is complimented by both men and women, but it lasts for about 3 hours before becoming nearly undetectable.

I love The One, but the projection and longevity is terrible on it. Which is why I'd go with D&G Pour Homme.

The sense of smell, like a faithful counsellor, foretells its character.

The One's scent itself is veryyyyyy good, but it lacks longevity or projection seriously.
Pour Homme is very exciting and definitely a bottle worthy fragrance which has very good longevity and moderate projection.
So if I was you, in any situations I would not buy The One and sure bought Pour Homme maybe with backup bottles!!!!!
My most favorite scents that I can't be without:
    Givenchy Xeryus Rouge
    Dior Homme Intense
    Fahrenheit

Dolce Gabbana pour homme is far better even in the reformulated version. The best would be if you could find the original one but the "German juice" is a great fragrance also.
