Default Initial impressions of Derby reissue and Bois Du Portugal...

Finally got to spend a couple of days with both fragrances. Derby reissue because I was curious not having smelled the original and Bois Du Portugal because the notes said I would love this.

I was simply not endeared to Derby Reissue. Not sure if it is the peppermint or the pimento, perhaps the way it is blended...there was almost a bit of a medicine smell I did not like. Glad I sampled it and put it in the not for me pile.

Bois Du Portugal...I thought it would grab me and go to the top of the I want it list...but it did not. Certain parts of it I enjoyed..like the dry down. Certainly a well crafted scent. I read all the reviews and can understand the points made...a mature scent..smells like money...smells outdated. Did not last long at all. A bit of a disappointment.

Like the drydown of BdP but it's the overwhelming bracing lavender opening that killed it for me and the reason I sold my bottle.

Have one of the older Derby bottles which I love and had no need to purchase the re-issue. Also love the Creed.
