    Default eau de lalique

why is it not as talked about? all my searches just end up being threads on encre noire. anyone care to share their experience with this frag. is it hard to come by in stores? i've only seen encre noire in the grey market.

    Magandang umaga!

I'm not familiar with Eau de Lalique, but the reviews do make it sound interesting. I don't remember ever seeing it for sale around here. I'll have to keep a sharper lookout for it.

I don't know why Encre Noir seems to dominate the Lalique discussions. I prefer the three Pour Hommes and some of their feminine frags over EN.

It is hard to find, but it comes in a beautiful, almost architectural bottle, and has a very unusual dill note. Here's the skinny:

Lalique Eau de Lalique (2003) Emile Coopermann Fresh Herbal Citrus

    ------------------
Top Notes: Mandarin, Black Pepper, Cardamom, Citron, Bergamot, Dill •Middle Notes: Freesia, Hibiscus, Cinnamon •Base Notes: Amyris Wood, Sandalwood, Benzoin, White Musk, Guaiac
    ------------------

My review: A bright, floral eau de cologne style fragrance with woody-musky base notes and a novel green note, dill. On me one of the most refreshing and novel EdC-style scents I've come across in a long time. This is especially good in warm weather, and always produces an up-beat, lighthearted mood in me. This lasts a long time and the drydown is very smooth. Also, reapplication is not a problem, as it can be with many eaux de cologne, which are not friendly to perspiration and require soap and water before reapplication. Not so with this one; reapplying is worry-free.

    Yr good bud,

    Thanks, Jaime.

This sounds like something worth making an effort to find.

Can you detect the dill note? What is the drydown like?

Yes, you can detect the dill behind the head notes of citrus. The drydown is woods and slightly oriental, with a bit of powder from the musk, but not really powdery. Overall very nice, and the freshness of the top notes lasts into the drydown, too.

This is readily available at the discounters last I looked. And it is cheap! It is a lovely, light EdC type (it is EdT though) fragrance with pretty good longevity, albeit the drydown is fairly soft. If you would rather some herbs instead of the usual citrus fair, give this a shot. And yes, the dill note is right up front giving it a very herbal opening. This is very unisex and very worthy of giving a sniff.

man i'm getting hungry i love spice and i love pickles, they're currently my cravings. well it wouldn't be a craving if i'd just eaten them lol! not sure about how much what i like in food translates to scent though but this one is really interesting not to mention it's a jc ellena collab. i've been trying to buy one of his creations for years but never pull the trigger on terre d'hermes, declaration, the different company, etc..

Longevity is around 6 hours, but it is a subtle scent after the first hour or two.

Thank you for posing about Eau de Lalique. I remember trying it at the store when I got Le Parfum and Perles and, even though eaux are not my cup of tea, I found it quite interesting and pretty. I remember it as sharing the character of most eaux but having quite a personality too.
Maybe it's time for me to buy a bottle.
