Default Le Dandy by D' Orsay.....need some help........

This fragrance would seem on paper to be something that I would love as Michael Kors is in my top 10 go to fragrances....However the comparisons with Le Male have me hesitant to pull the trigger on a blind buy as Le Male is one of the few fragrances that literally gives me a headache and makes me nauseous. I generally love anything that has a prominent plum, tobacco note (as in Kors). Anyone able to clarify the Le Male comparisons?

I have both but view them as being very different from each other. It's a great fragrance.

It is not like Le Male at all, IMO. I think you will like it based on your preferences... I certainly do.

Forget the Le Male similarities - they don't exist. Le Dandy is a boozy, rich, and opulent delight which I am sure you will enjoy immensely judging by what you have said. Go easy on the trigger though - it's certainly no shrinking violet .

I get Michael vibe, though Le Dandy is a bit lighter and more refined.
I don't get Le Male except some fruitiness at the top of Le Dandy.

... hehe, okay, it has that French "Le" thing in its name too ;D

Not similar to Le Male, but others have said to get the silver cap version, not the gold one (otherwise there's not enough oakmoss to balance things out). I've only tried the silver cap version.

I've only tried the silver cap version, and it does remind me quite a bit of Michael Kors. In fact this was my initial reaction the first time I smelled it, "This reminds me of something... hmm, Michael Kors? Yes, Michael Kors." I think you would like it if you're a Michael Kors fan. Mainly due to the tobacco. I get no association with Le Male.

MfM Kors has a synthetic musk in the opening that really irritates me. Once that's gone it's a lot more natural smelling. The big difference at that point is that it's got strong patchouli rather than oakmoss, and also the lavender is clearly present, though not outrageously strong, as is so often the case.

Yep, I agree that Le Dandy is more akin to Michael Kors than to Le Male. A connection between Le Dandy and Le Male never occured to me before I read this thread, and even now I don't see it.

+1. No Le Male here. Just booze and class.
