From the list Bleu, although I don't like any. If you want longevity/projection why not consider Egoiste?
Thread: Which Chanel? |
Sup gents!
I'm looking to add a Chanel scent to my Spring/Summer rotation
Options are:
1. Bleu De Chanel
2. Allure Homme Sport
3. Allure Homme Edition Blanche
4. Platinum Egoiste
Opinions on longevity? Projection? Overall?
From the list Bleu, although I don't like any. If you want longevity/projection why not consider Egoiste?
My rank ordering from best to worst:
1. Edition Blanche
2. Bleu
3. Platinum
4. Allure Homme Sport
I like Edition Blanche very much, and it's excellent for spring/summer. There's a wonderful lemon note that persists well into the dry down, complemented by vetiver. Good projection and surprisingly good longevity. Bleu is very good for what it is, IMO, but what it is is pretty generic.
Current Top Five:
1. Bois des Iles--Chanel
2. George Sand--Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier
3. L'Ame Soeur--Divine
4. Violet Blonde--Tom Ford
5. Santal Blush--Tom Ford
Not my favorite list, but in the list Platinum Egoiste. Of course the regular Egoiste is better, though it is woody-warm.
If you want to remain within Chanel and are willing to fork out $$$, there's Sycomore, a wonderfully fresh vetiver that's quite persistent also in warm weather.

I like Bleu. It's an easy scent to wear...it lasts most of the day for me...and projects the right amount (not too heavy, not too light). Again...that's on me.

Would you consider Chanel Allure Sport Intense? It's really nice though not popular on the board.
I'm not OLD...I'm VINTAGE!
Whats the difference between EGOISTE and PLATINUM EGOISTE?
From the list, I'd pick Bleu de Chanel. It has very good longevity on me, and the projection is quite nice, too.
I'd also add another vote for Allure Homme Sport Extreme. This one is solid on longevity, with strong projection (in a good way). It is not really as "citrus-y" as the original; as a matter of fact I find it different from Homme Sport... the Extreme is kind of sweet -- reminds me of Armani Code Ultimate.
Allure Homme Edition Blanche
Platinum Egoiste
If South Africa is very hot in spring and summer, Bleu and Platinum Egoiste will become cloying. Allure Sport isn't much of anything. So the winner from your list would be: Allure Homme Edition Blanche. Very different from Dior Homme Sport, where ginger really dominates in my estimation. (I'd say DHS is closer to YSL L'Homme.)
Allure Homme Edition Blanche - by a mile.
Vintage Egoiste Platinum (as Platinum is placed on top of Egoiste on the current formulation - reverse for Vintage). Very classy with an aire of sophistication...
Very nice indeed.
Cheers.

I am amazed that any mention of Chanel would not contain Antaeus. If you have not come across the mighty Antaeus as of yet, then lucky you as you are in for a treat. Antaeus is imo the standard bearer for mens Chanel frangrances.
Uhh, Bleu? *gun to my head*![]()

Bleu
Antaeus.
E. None of the above.
Why in the world would one force oneself to wear a fragrance just because it happens to be from a certain company?
Or do you actually like all four listed, and just want to see if a certain suggestion will tip the scale for you? If so, I'm sorry for not being of any use.
I have Bleu and I have sampled Edition Blanche and at certain stages of wearing it smells very similar to Bleu. So I wouldn't buy both.
Both Bleu and Blanche are great fragrances but I'd recommend Bleu.
My next Chanel purchase will be Allure Homme Sport.
I'm slightly surprised at the aversion to Chanel on these forums. Has it perhaps become fashionable to dislike them? In my opinion they make consistently fantastic perfumes. It is probably the only house where I like every single one.

From your list: Platinum Egoiste. Though my Chanel preferences are Egoiste and Antaeus
I really dislike all of them about equally... So regrettably I can only give a "none of the above". If you are looking at the regular Chanel line, then I recommend also considering Pour Monsieur or Antaeus.

It's amazing how every time a thread is started querying which of the modern Chanel's is recommended, there's always some who bash them and recommend the...let's say, "outdated" Chanel fragrances. I don't recall seeing Pour Monsieur, Antaeus, or Egoiste on the OP's list. If you hate all of the OP's choices then why bother replying? Are you too cool for school to wear something that other people will actually like? Don't get me wrong, I'm down with Egoiste, Sycomore, Coromandel and even Cuir de Russie, but Pour Monsieur and Antaeus are vile to me. So to answer the OP:
1. Bleu De Chanel (Best projection and longevity of the bunch)
2. Edition Blanche
3. Platinum Egoiste
4. AHS
In that order. I prefer Edition Blanche to Bleu, but Bleu is a more well rounded fragrance IMO. It's the easiest to wear and is good for any occasion/season whereas Edition Blanche is only good for summer casual.

Top 5:
1. Axe Kilo
2. Lectric Shave
3. Vicks Vapor Rub
4. Febreze Pour Homme
5. Preferred Stock
